Brown JacksonSen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) repeatedly interrupted Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson during her confirmation hearing on Wednesday, drawing frustrated responses from audience members and other senators on the Judiciary Committee.
Most of Graham's interruptions took place during a tense exchange about Jackson's approach to sentencing in child pornography cases.
After one such interruption, several voices could be heard saying "Let her answer!" and "Come on," while Senate Judiciary Committee Chair Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) said, "Please, let her complete her answer."
Washington Post White House reporter Seung Min Kim tweeted that the audience in the hearing room grew "audibly frustrated" with Graham's interruptions and that she heard one woman mutter "shut up."

(82,849 posts)Please consider using it. You're the committee chairman. You have lots of prerogatives, and gaveling someone down is one of them. The committee is your house, and you're letting some of the residents abuse your guest. Step up, man.

(509 posts)I have no doubt that the forces of Evil (the right) will have spent a trillion dollars (of Oligarch money) researching every millisecond of Justice Jackson's past. If there had been anything at all to bring up that would have confused or collapsed this nomination they would have used it. The fact that they spent all of their efforts on children's books and attempts to paint her with a "Kiddy Porn" label in the minds of the doofuses, tells me she is clean as a whistle and a good nominee for the job.
