Polish president accuses Russian army of Nazi-style tactics in Ukraine
WARSAW, Poland Polands president has compared the conduct of Russian forces in Ukraine to that of Adolf Hitlers infamous SS troops during World War II, while Warsaw is reported to have recommended to the U.S. that Russia be jettisoned by the G-20.
U.S. President Joe Biden is slated to travel this week to Brussels and Warsaw, where a meeting is planned with President Andrzej Duda. New sanctions against Russia will be announced during the trip, national-security adviser Jake Sullivan said Tuesday.
Polish officials reportedly indicated that the U.S. appeared open to the proposed G-20 expulsion of Putins Russia, even as, less than four years ago, thenU.S. President Donald Trump openly suggested Russia should be readmitted to what is now the G-7, from which it was ousted over its Ukraine incursions four years prior.
Duda, whose country suffered a brutal Nazi occupation during World War II, noted that Russia had already violated international law when it attacked Georgia in 2008 and first invaded Ukraine in 2014, leading to the annexation of the Crimean peninsula and the establishment in eastern Ukraine of two pro-Moscow quasi-independent republics.
Today, Duda said during a visit to Bulgaria on Tuesday, the Russian army is behaving in exactly the same way
as the German SS.
