(24,467 posts)that there are US guys (and girls) that want in on this action. Warring with actual Russians must be more satisfying then fighting in the ME. Why fight proxies when now you fight the real enemy of democracy?
What I wonder is, how many US guys and gals are taking up arms against Ukraine and with Putin? So far, "Texas" is the only hi-profile American fighting with Russian troops against Ukraine.

(18,402 posts)(or other nationalities) to come. Only those highly qualified to join and be accepted in the International Legion.
They are asking the many Americans who are just coming over to fight to please leave. Its a huge liability for them and for us. If inexperienced combatants are captured, Russia will use them for propaganda to claim we (and the West) are secretly sending in forces. And that (false) proposition will give them the excuse to escalate or expand their already abhorrent warfare.
So stay home. There was a long segment on this issue last night on the news. Just because Ukrainian civilians are (legitimately) fighting to protect their country, it doesnt mean foreign citizens should be coming. Ukraine is firm on this, and its been a problem.

(24,467 posts)100s of thousands of ex-US military that want in on this fight. The kind of troops that will help Ukraine kick this 2nd class military army back to their border. Hoping that 9 of 10 choose Ukraine to fight with.

(18,402 posts)hopping on planes and showing up there ... its a big problem that has been well documented. And unless these 100s of thousands of experienced vets youre talking about are formally part of the International Legion, they should not be there either.
We have a government that decides our involvement. Dont mess with US foreign policy on your own, because it could do far more harm than good.

vs US Battle tested Troops to engage, OK.....US will kick ass, unofficially.
May be the most honest war of my lifetime. Kicking Russia's ass back to their border...I am OK with this...aren't you?

(18,402 posts)There are many complex geopolitical considerations at stake. I plan to let the experts make the decisions. This is not the Spanish Civil War. Theres a huge nuclear arsenal over that border, and a madman with his hand near the button. Kicking ass sounds real fun and macho, but it could lead to massive carnage, misery, and destruction.
I await orders from the trusted world leaders.
