Was listening to MSNBC on they way to work today and Joe had Bob Woodward on discussing the reporting he and Costa have done on the Thomas/Meadows sedition. Pretty good discussion until Bob starts talking about what needs to be done and goes into his both sides shtick. I was listening on the radio and couldnt see Eugenes face, but apparently he was looking at Bob like he was speaking in tongues. When given his chance to rebut Woodward, Robinson was having none of it, and laid out how claiming that the left was guilty of wanting things only their way was a false dichotomy when it comes to overthrowing the government. Pretty much stopped Woodward in his tracks.
Wish more talking heads could be more like Eugene.

To Republicans for years so they would buy his yearly books.
Bernstein was on CNN As soon as the Trump crap hit the fan. I remember CNN asked the pair to be on together. Bernstein did everything but laugh in his face.
Then suddenly Woodward was on the other side with, of course, another book with Robert Costa.
Robinson and Woodward got into a screaming match, as you said because of Woodwards both sides. I have never seen Robinson angry before.

(21,280 posts)2 major shareholders -
BlackRock and Vanguard.
MSNBC just passed up the chance to increase its ratings, its viewership, by snubbing Keith Olbermann. This proves my point that cable news isn't just in it for the money, clicks, it's in it to promote the right wing agenda.

Period. Shes everything you could want as an on air News personality. When Joe got it - from his nowhere middle of Saturday afternoon show - that told me everything I needed to know. I like his show but Stephanie would have been a liberal sending people out for the day with an actual different take on this. Cant have that now can we?

(15,216 posts)But reaching the top of this mountain only serves to make matters murkier. BlackRock is a publicly traded company which lists Vanguard as its principal shareholder. And who owns Vanguard? No one really knows since it is privately owned and is not obliged to make a public disclosure of its owners.
Vanguard and BlackRock represent the 1% of the 1% who have garnered 82% of the worlds wealth. The value of these companies is beyond calculation. A Bloomberg report states that the two companies by 2028 together will have investments in the amount of 20 trillion dollars.
At present, they own 1,600 American companies, including most of the firms that constitute the S & Ps Fortune 500. They also own Big Pharma, including the firms that provide the coronavirus vaccines.

CNN is changing for the better. I actually think Kasie Hunt and David Gregory would make a great team. They were on with Brianna and John Bergman. And I love those 2.
I had just tuned in when Woodward and Robinson were on. I heard Robinson raise his voice, so unusual.

(139 posts)Yes, I was happy to see him push back and that Joe joined it. I don't know how Woodward could even bring up the issue. Has he become more conservative in old age (happens to some I understand). No Democrats I know are engaged in a holy war (jihad) against Republicans. Republicans are the one's saying the only good democrat is a dead democrat (stolen from their hero Andrew Johnson) and when the wife of a supreme court justice is saying Democrats will be taken to GITMO for trial and presumably killed for treason. We have to be clear about who were the traitors trying to overthrow our democracy and install a Putin puppet on the throne.

(47,351 posts)It was Bernstein who was liberal. More than being a conservative, Woodward has a huge ego. All the Watergate success went to his head and I think he has never come down to earth since. Meanwhile, he plays both sides so he can maintain access in DC. In the process, he's lost a lot of journalistic integrity and objectivity.

(47,351 posts)While at the same time Woodward was kissing up to right-wingers to get access. He did end up with some revealing books, but his motivation seemed more self-glorification, rather than hard-hitting investigative journalism. He is often good at what he does, but his integrity is questionable, which can seriously diminish the relevance of his work.

(47,351 posts)He's always been a conservative with a rather large ego. The success of the Watergate investigation may have obscured who he really was, that and being played by Robert Redford in "All the President's Men". I read a Watergate follow-up book of his some years ago and a lot of his self-absorbed personality came through, changing my view of him a great deal. Overall the book was redundant and forgettable, but his over-sized ego was memorable.
Bob often appears to be about selling himself more than the story, which makes his objectivity questionable.

(61,690 posts)it on Sirius while driving. He was pleased that Eugene R & Joe shut down the "both sides do it" campaign. No, Bob, both sides didn't try to actively overturn an election. Both sides did not literally shit on the capital and threaten to kill the Speaker and the VP.
