Wyden: Justice Thomas should recuse himself from Jan. 6 and 2024 election casesSen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) on Friday said Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas should recuse himself from any cases involving the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol and, if former President Trump runs again, cases related to the 2024 election.
Thomas is facing growing ethics questions amid reports that this wife, Ginni Thomas, urged then-White House chief of staff Mark Meadows to make an aggressive effort to overturn the results of the 2020 election.
Wyden said Clarence Thomas's "conduct on the Supreme Court looks increasingly corrupt" in the wake of the new reporting.
"At the bare minimum, Justice Thomas needs to recuse himself from any case related to the January 6th investigation, and should Donald Trump run again, any case related to the 2024 election," Wyden added.

Kevin McCarthy says it's up to Justice Clarence Thomas whether he recuses himself from January 6 cases after news broke that his wife pushed Mark Meadows to challenge the 2020 election
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy on Friday said it's up to Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas to decide whether to recuse himself from any cases related to the January 6 investigation, following news that Thomas' wife pushed former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows to challenge the 2020 election results.
"I think Justice Thomas could make his decisions like he's made them every other time. It's his decision based upon law," McCarthy said during a news conference at the House GOP retreat in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.
"If you spent any time studying the Supreme Court justice, he's one who studies correctly and I mean, from all the way through. If he sees it's not upholding the Constitution, he'll rule against it," the Republican leader added. "That's what his job should be. It's him."
The Washington Post on Thursday published a bombshell report revealing text messages that Thomas' wife, Virginia "Ginni" Thomas, sent Meadows in the weeks after the 2020 election, in which she urged him to challenge the results because of claims of widespread voter fraud. There is no evidence of widespread voter fraud in the 2020 election. Federal, state and local officials have repeatedly said that the election was fair and accurate.

The fucking "minimum" should be resignation and possible criminal charges, NOT recusal from a few cases involving Jan 6 or future elections.
Retrumplicans would start with public hanging, and then walk back from there if this were a Democratic Presidents appointee.
My God! When are we going to realize that we are no longer dealing with a fucking "normal", or "reasonable" political party?
Clarence Thomas is an enemy of democracy. The absolute "minimum" demand should be resignation in disgrace, and removal with prejudice.
Recusal? You fucking might as well just send him a strongly worded letter.

They are both correct about that.
