Her parents must feel so proud.

Jackson's parents, Johnny and Ellery Brown, watch her from the audience on Monday. "One of my favorite parts about Supreme Court hearings, for everyone that I've covered, is their supporters that sit in the front rows," photographer Sarah Silbiger said. "I really enjoyed having my eye on her parents, who are just totally beaming with pride."

as Republicans on the Judiciary Committee man handled their daughter in the most un-dignified manner, attempting to tear her apart with their inane questioning.

The fact that she may not get a single Republican vote in the Senate will show the extreme bias they feel towards qualified nominees put forth by a Democratic Party President. If it is by party line with VP Harris breaking a tie, the next time Biden gets another SCOTUS pick no matter how qualified, Republicans will act the same.

Unbelievable restraint. But gotta give it to her dad for not putting a fist through Graham, Cruze Cotton and Halley’s mushy faces. As a dad of a Daughter, I would be in jail right now. But as a human, busting their mouths should put me on a pedestal instead of jail.
McConnell will not vote yes because of her candor. Guess Judge Thomas has shown impeccable candor. Repiglicans need to be eliminated and made extinct. Those committe members are the scum of the planet. Do not deserve to exist.

Judge Jackson's parents knew it would get a little mean and nasty, and the TV camera would be looking for their reactions. God bless them for their patience and intelligence to realize this would all be over soon. Their brilliant, accomplished daughter will be sworn in as a US Supreme Court justice, and it will all have been worth it.

on the committee are not up to the level of Senators and really are auditioning to be TV pundits for Tucker Carson.

Jonathan Capeheart was eloquent and moving along with Brooks on tonight's PBS Newshour.

I was also glad to see they interviewed Jane Mayer about Ginni Thomas and the ethical issues surrounding the revelations of her texts.

but what I saw made me furious and protective for her. I can't imagine what a parent would have felt.

If I were her parents I would have found it difficult to restrain myself. But she held up like a champ and I am sure she made them proud. I admire their composure.

When she was making her speech where she (among other things) thanked all the people who have supported her throughout her life, she mentioned her brother, and the camera cut to a shot of him. I'm pretty sure that's the same guy.

We feel proud with them.

It's good to remember that greatness is made, not born. Granted there are so many books on parenting, but I wish the Brown family would write one on their approach and practices of parenting and family life. While Judge Jackson's accomplishments are all her own, the Brown family show the head, heart and hands work, refinement and greatness that families can give to society.

Mom is full of joy fit to burst. I mean, how could you not be? Your little girl is being confirmed to sit on the Supreme Court! That is a fantastic dream for any parent, the culmination of everything you've hoped for as you raised your kids.

And Dad? He's proud too, but the crossed arms tell me he's goddamned disgusted with these hostile Republicans, because these are both people who know what racism feels like.

Yet here she is, and she has the votes!

it is also a confirmation before they leave this world, for whether they were able to pass on to the next generation, the required and sustained skills needed to survive and thrive, in the same way such had been passed on to them.

IOW, to be able to make it through the daily gauntlet, from cradle to grave, that America puts us through, and to hopefully continue to pass that on to their own progeny.
