Is Justice Thomas just as delusional as his wife Ginni? Is he a Qanon nutcase too?

Inquiring minds are asking these question.

The US supreme court could “at some point” become “compromised” by politics, said Clarence Thomas – one of six conservatives on the nine-member court after Republicans denied Barack Obama a nomination then rammed three new justices through during the hard-right presidency of Donald Trump.

“You can cavalierly talk about packing or stacking the court,” said Thomas, whose wife, Ginni Thomas, has come under extensive scrutiny for work for rightwing groups including supporting Trump’s attempts to overturn an election.

“You can cavalierly talk about doing this or doing that. At some point the institution is going to be compromised.”

.... “By doing this,” he said, “you continue to chip away at the respect of the institutions that the next generation is going to need if they’re going to have civil society.”

That someone as well-connected as Ginni Thomas—who, again, had access to the president’s chief-of-staff—holds such views is itself a huge news event. Thus far, this has largely been how the media has treated the story. The details are certainly attractively lurid: Ginni Thomas’s texts are essentially the Facebook posts of an especially brain-diseased boomer. Except instead of just pestering your nephew Jaden with constant shitposting, she’s constantly in the ear of someone with direct, constant access to who was then the most powerful person in the world (who happens to be an even more brain diseased boomer).

But this is also only part of the story. There’s a deeper problem that still hasn’t quite surfaced in the frenzied chronicling of Clarence Thomas’ QAnon wife: This is, ultimately, a story about corruption. Clarence Thomas never disclosed that his wife was sending dozens of texts to Meadows. He certainly did not disclose that his wife harbored deranged QAnon-ish beliefs that she’d been sharing with the White House’s chief-of-staff. Perhaps he didn’t know specific details about what his wife has been discussing with Trump’s inner circle. But he almost assuredly understood her affinity for Trump—and her participation in promulgating baseless conspiracy theories about a stolen election: Earlier this month she admitted that she had attended Trump’s “Stop the Steal” rally.

..... Remember, there aren’t jurisprudence cops policing the justices and their activities; there are no enforcement mechanisms that govern their behavior—it is left to the justices themselves to behave honorably. If the members of the court don’t act in the interests of the court’s own legitimacy, it largely falls to the media to step in and keep the public properly informed. No, cable news is not going to affect the impeachment of Clarence Thomas; no hot take is going to stem the bleeding. But Ginni Thomas’ actions are damning for her, her husband, and the institution on which he serves. This is more than a tabloid-ready story about QAnon—it’s a story of corruption. If no one else will act in the public interest, the press must.

Thomas began her career working for Representative Hal Daub. After graduating from Creighton University School of Law, she worked at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. She went on to work for the U.S. Department of Labor and as an aide for Representative Dick Armey. In 2000, she joined The Heritage Foundation, where she was a White House Liaison between the think tank and the George W. Bush administration. In 2009, Thomas started Liberty Central, a conservative political advocacy nonprofit associated with the Tea Party movement. She founded Liberty Consulting in 2010.[3]

Thomas supported Donald Trump during his presidency, offering the Trump administration recommendations on individuals to hire through her work with the conservative Groundswell group.

..... In 1991, Thomas returned to government service in the Legislative Affairs Office of the U.S. Department of Labor,[15][16][17] where she argued against comparable-worth legislation that would have mandated equal pay for women and men in jobs deemed to be comparable.[18]

That year, her husband, Clarence Thomas, was nominated by President George H. W. Bush ....

... Her next job was as a policy analyst for Representative Dick Armey, who was the House Republican Conference chairman.[24]

By 2000, she was working for the Heritage Foundation, where she collected résumés for potential presidential appointments in the George W. Bush administration when the Supreme Court was deciding Bush v. Gore.[25] She continued to work at the Heritage Foundation during the administration of George W. Bush, serving as the White House Liaison for the think tank. ....

For someone as close to a SC Justice as Mrs Thomas is and someone who is clearly well connected and, theoretically, should be well informed, it's absolutely frightening that Ginni Thomas is absolutely divorced from reality in her thoughts and her actions. This should be sending shockwaves across all media outlets. Her text messages and her actions are not acceptable and aren't even based on reality. There should be repercussions; whether or not there will be remains to be seen.

https://www.cnn.com/2022/03/24/politics/ginni-thomas-mark-meadows-text-messages/index.html

The House Select Committee investigating the January 6 riot has in its possession more than two dozen text messages, 29 in total, between former Trump White House chief of staff Mark Meadows and Virginia "Ginni" Thomas, a conservative activist and the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, according to multiple sources familiar with the messages.

These text messages, according to sources, took place between early November 2020 and mid-January 2021. Thomas recently revealed that she attended the pro-Trump rally that preceded the US Capitol attack on January 6, 2021, but says she "played no role" in planning the events of that day.

The text messages, reviewed by CNN, show Thomas pleading with Meadows to continue the fight to overturn the election results. .....................

before or after his speaking appearance at the Christo fascist Michigan school? Was it perhaps a payoff for getting him to speak there? A great deal was made about his appearance locally.

17. Clarence & Ginni "intellectual soulmates"

According to a friend in 1991. Clarence would describe Ginni as a "gift from God."

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2022/03/25/who-is-ginni-thomas/7164984001/

Clarence was seated on SCOTUS in 1991, four years after he and Ginni were married. I wondered if she had come up during his confirmation hearings but apparently she wasn't widely known yet as a RW nutjob "activist" so wasn't an issue.
