Haven't posted on here in years but I have to ask...what exactly is Merrick Garland doing?
Is he going to let Trump skate by on his crimes like DA Alvin Bragg is doing?

(115,683 posts)and Biden chose for his AG - a man with a completely spotless record and a long history of successful prosecutions of major crimes - is corrupt and could be bought off? Really? That insults not only Garland, but Obama and Biden as well. Nice job.

(11,288 posts)investigation letting Trump go free. So you tell me how much stomach Garland has to bring Trump and his cabal to justice.
Low level thugs get investigated, Trump insiders go free.

(115,683 posts)His prosecution in the Oklahoma City bombing case has been described as "flawless," and he did not let much information out in the process. He is not going to give press conferences about the progress of the investigation.

(5,321 posts)The obstruction of justice case was slam dunk indictable, whether or not he could have gotten an honest jury. Do the right thing. He didn't.

(16,903 posts)I think we havent heard the last of this. Lets remember that Trump left dozens of moles everywhere in the DOJ and elsewhere.

(54,770 posts)know that he desided they didn't have the evidence to convict because they coundn't find anyone who would -- or perhaps could -- testify that trump ordered them to falsify financial reports.
Bragg also said they had more important things to do that spend the resources to try trump. Personally, I think that's true, no matter how much we want trump behind bars.
Personally, trump was convicted by the ultimate court-- the voters. He's gone. I'm for moving on and doing what needs to be done for the people of this country. The vast majority of people don't give a damn about trump, especially if he's rotting in Florida and failing at even being relavent. If hard evidence is found -- like a Sharpie drawing where trump show his rubes where to enter Capitol -- then great, fry his ass.

(9,008 posts)and is quite historic. Never had an ex-president, much less an entire crime family of the ex-president under such scrutiny before.
I think the scope of this is much bigger than we realize. Russian oligarch money. Hundreds of millions in dark money. Some Senators, House members, even SCOTUS members (?) involved.
I am about as frustrated by the DOJ slowness as anyone but I pause when I think about the massive undertaking.
Meanwhile we have to GOTV.

(13,569 posts)Because I fully support Joe Biden as POTUS and understood that his first priority was the domestic agenda to deal with the economy and with Covid. I trust him, I believe in him, and I am daily in awe of his stamina and his qualities. He could not have dealt with Covid and with the economy if 2021 was dedicated to pursuit of political crimes.
But now, two pieces of information bother me.
1. A November 2020 NBC News article telling of Biden's philosophy about holding accountable those who commit political crimes. Is Garland operating under that philosophy as stated then by Biden? The American people deserve to know the answer to that now. Link below.
2. I had not known about Garland's very close association with Jamie Gorelick, widely considered corrupt and with a much-criticized history. Garland was her chief deputy. She was his MENTOR and remains his very good friend. ETHICS LAWYER for Jared Kushner is just one of her accomplishments available widely on google search.
I realize that these are highly fraught times, a new bombshell every day, and that POTUS is trying very hard to keep an even keel. I am asking people to contact the three reporters who wrote that NBC story in 2020and ask them to seek a clarification of Biden's policy now that we know what we know about the crimes of those who seek to overthrow our duly elected government.

You can google Jamie Gorelick as you wish.
