"Argo" is an excellent film. Go to see it but be prepared to be on the edge of your seat, even

though you know how it turns out!

I was amazed how much this movie just drew me in and had me biting my nails. Affleck is as good as it gets and wonderful Alan Arkin and John Goodman provide serious comedy and some terrific scenes.

This one will be an Oscar winner. Affleck's direction was superb. NOt a draggy moment in the whole thing. Performances were low key (except for Goodman and Arkin) and perfect. I expect it to be nominated both in Best Actor and Best Director categories (at least).

The movie will make you a nervous wreck at several points and up to the last possible moment but it is very effective filmmaking.

If you are very selective about the movies you see (as I am) this should be on your list. don't miss it!

Of course, the public wasn't reminded of the 6 missing/unaccounted for embassy workers til after they were back on US soil. And everybody was like, "Oh, so that's what happenend to them. That's why people stopped talking about the missing six - they went to the Canadian Embassy."

A couple of weeks later, the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid started. The Canadian Olympic team got a rousing and extended reception from the crowd. Of course, a huge portion f the crowd was from, too, I suppose!

Goodman and Arkin...boy, I wish they had bigger roles. Their roles were big, but they were so awesome, that I could've watched them onscreen for another half hour.

11. And all of those checkpoints at the airport! I just got back from travel to Europe

and had several checkpoints requiring my passport and you really had to be sharp to be ready right there when they required it. I was rested and pretty relaxed but still a little on guard but these people had to be stressed to the point of breaking. It's amazing to me that one of them didn't break down. Luckily, of course, they were younger and more resilient...when you get to be my age, it's all different...
