Tyre's father, Yarnell, said that his son was 6-foot-5 and 340 pounds, and was told by other rides in the park that he was too large to ride safely, but that the Free Fall ride operators waved him aboard.
Sampson had been worried about the harness prior to the ride beginning, his father said, and told his friends sitting next to him to tell his parents that he loved them.
'When the ride took off, that's when he was feeling uncomfortable. He was like 'this thing is moving,' you know what I'm saying. And he was like 'what's going on?' Yarnell told WOFL-TV.

(51,308 posts)You're right. He shouldn't have been on that ride, and the operators should be checking that every single harness is secured.
What an awful tragedy.

(32,297 posts)but the park attendant had to push and push on the harness, then move him to another seat to get it to click. I was scared watching.

(51,308 posts)This poor kid. You couldn't pay me to get on a ride like that. I hope he wasn't on it due to peer pressure.
I never cared for the "scary" rides, but I do remember friends always trying to push me into riding them. Nope.

And that is almost always the people operating these rides.
