The war on 'We The People'

What we are seeing is a direct frontal assault on our Government by the proponents of an organizing principle that is part religion, part oligarchy, and in large measure a fantasy: a free market capitalist society populated by citizen-corporations. This is a form of revolution that is unique to our times, but nevertheless shares one desired outcome with Marxist/Leninist Communism: the withering away of the state. For the Republicans, that would be The United Sates.

Rather than strike at the Constitution, the target is government itself. The goal is to gradually isolate government and cut it off from the activities that define society such as commerce, education, health care, the corrections system and so on. Government itself is the enemy of the people and, least we forget, Corporations are people.

Note: whenever a Republican mentions 'Government', please translate as 'We, the People."

Government is like a baby. An alimentary canal with a big appetite at one end and no sense of responsibility at the other.
- Ronald Reagan

It's time to stop the spread of government dependency and fight it like the poison it is.
- Mitt Romney

The Republican agenda is always to isolate Americans from each other and to induce us to abandon the notion that we can work together for the common good. We cannot depend on each other. We are our own worst enemies. Government is the problem, not the solution. "We, The People' are the problem.

In place of government, the Republicans propose another solution: magic.
The magic of the free market, unfettered by regulation, unaccountable to everything but the law of supply and demand, will deliver not only fairly-priced goods and services, but also realize the common good and community services. The profit motive is the only dependable virtue, from which all other virtues are inevitably descendant. The fact that this belief is contradicted by nearly every historical precedent makes it well qualified as a Religion. Virtue is not its own reward, reward itself is a virtue.

Sometime in the future, perhaps, historians will look back at this time and wonder why Americans came to outsource the Constitutional Government they fought so hard to create and sacrificed so much to defend and adopt, instead, a spreadsheet.

GREED is one addictive and all encompassing Overlord. TOO MUCH is not near enough for some people.

The 99% need to deliver SUCH a beat down this election that it CAN'T be stolen.

The GOVERNMENT is our only protection from being dominated by the few, the proud, the rich and greedy bastards who think this country is their pissing cup. Stuff that trickles down an ass' ass is less offensive.
