You need to understand that I live in seriously pro-MAGA neighborhood. During the BLM protests she placed blue solar spotlights, not only on her own property, but at the base of every tree that lines our street. Blue lives matter lawn flags were on almost every property. All of which was a violation of our HOA guidelines. Unfortunately they worked the system. One gets 3 warnings to correct any violation and if not corrected hefty fines ensue. Our MAGA HOA actually said that all one needs to do is correct the violation and then put them back up again and wait until you get warnings again. Rinse and repeat.
Now I'm not saying she did it on purpose but ... weeks ago I replaced the lights on my garage with yellow and blue bulbs in solidarity with Ukraine.
Two days ago she placed red and blue spotlights on her plants right at the edge of our property line. So now we have Ukrainian colors vs Russian colors in direct violation of the HOA rules.
So even though I am in violation for having colored lights, I will await a letter informing me that I have to amend the situation. At that point I will post to my neighborhood cesspool social media platform (NextDoor) and try to publicly shame both the HOA and all the other asshats that will look you right in the eye and proclaim they are true patriots and regurgitate the talking points they absorb from watching Fox quislings.
These fuckers have no sense of decency.

(38,958 posts)I would take down the yellow and blue lights and find another less public way to support Ukraine 🇺🇦. There is no prize to be won here.
If the neighbors and the HOA want to act like horses behinds let them. Just stirring the pot will not change anything or any opinions

(22,100 posts)and ruin the experiences for everybody else, because they want to push their beliefs onto everybody else (and not just neighborhood stuff, political crap, etc. seems to steep in). I was on this for exactly one day, when they came to our neighborhood, and I realized only after one day just what kind of people were on this platform (nothing like DU at all), I discontinued my trial and ran as fast as I could away.
Never again. I don't care if they (NextDoor) changes its format, etc., perhaps they now have monitors (I doubt) the fact that they allowed such riff raff onto their site like this ruined it forever for them and I'll never spend a dime on this site/spend time on this site.

(1,576 posts)Flagged posts go to the moderators, they vote, and posts can be removed for violation of the Nextdoor policies. Of course she is vilified as the moderators are not anonymous but she follows the guide lines and of course they all start to scream that they are victims of cancel culture if a post gets removed.

(22,100 posts)to moderate things a bit, when especially a lot of people don't want to 'tone it down', and drown everyone else out, dominate the conversation that really, in essence, doesn't have anything to do w/ 'neighborhood' things.
And thank you for bringing me up to speed on Next Door, I really had high expectations for this site when they first advertised it when coming to our neighborhood and I was so disappointed when it didn't live up to its name (no moderators then). Obviously, they did a total turnaround in order to literally survive.

(58,785 posts)Right now in OUR ND neighborhoods, in GA "the cows are out" on a nearby road. In FL someone's putting together a group to hack back the jungle that's taken over an elderly neighbor's garden, their second excursion, and someone else is holding a lost dog for its owner to come get. Etc. Watch out for baby coral snakes.
Both are very red neighborhoods. There are a couple of schmucks on both sites, but their troublemaking doesn't get purchase because they're outnumbered by decent, unquarrelsome people whose participation makes the sites valuable and nice.

2. find the names of their key friends and relatives
This may help prevent you from making a regrettable mistake

The sign can say, "Your are now leaving America"

That the reich-wing's basic problem.
Someone called them "trailer-park Scientologists." They need not live in trailer parks or be low-income; it's their mindset. They are looking for somewhere to place their anger and Faux pointed them to the Rethugian Party.

(8,876 posts)I pissed off a RWNJ on Nextdoor last week.
He was going on about Nazis running Ukraine.
I reminded him of Ari Fleischer's warning that people "need to watch what they say".........because Russian sympathizers will not be treated well soon.
His head exploded, and his subsequent threatening post was removed. Mental midgets.

Maybe in the very near future.
Quit the lights and quit the fight. There are times to take the high road. This sounds like one of them.

(1,576 posts)My wife and I moved to Aruba at the beginning of Shrubs second term and moved back after President Obama was elected. If TFG had been reelected we might have left the country again.
Now, it has come to the point that I am tired of ceding power to the assholes. I am going to be a thorn in their side. I am also going to renew my passport because, God forbid, TFG doesn't die or go to prison and we lose in '24 we may bail again. Otherwise we work with other Dems in the area to get Dems into power.

It wouldn't be healthy for me to be pissed off that much and that often.

(17,425 posts)I have a lot of empathy for you. I have bad neighbors, but not in the same way as you.
You have to ignore her...completely.
No chatting, no waving to each other, nothing.
Unless she does something so heinous that you can call the cops about, you're going to be fighting a never-ending battle that you cannot win.
Having a bad neighbor, is one of life's miserable situations that there is almost never a remedy for.
Continue to be the good person that I'm sure you are, live your life, and ignore her. You could seriously ruin your life if you get in a battle with her. I tried reasoning with mine politely, then not so politely...it never works.
