DNC needs to look at these things seriously and get out of beltway think that DO NOT gravitate towards concerns of CoC.

Your OP really proves the point that we need to be better at messaging.

(90,304 posts)Three Democratic groups Third Way, the Collective PAC and Latino Victory Fund recently released an after-report on the 2020 election. It is a comprehensive look at everything from the need to shore up support among African American voters, to ways to combat the socialist label, to polling failures, to the need for year-round investment in organizing (as Stacey Abrams did in Georgia).

For example, Democrats must monitor and be active in Spanish-language media where MAGA lies and conspiracy theories helped draw Latinos away from the Democrats. They need to double down on digital media rather than burn money on TV ads that fewer voters watch.

(128,535 posts)And I am assuming the twitter account name is a parody one although what he tweeted is pretty much spot on.
The problem is that I expect that anyone who bothers to post on a discussion forum like DU is not the "average person" who doesn't live/breathe politics. I.e., they basically gets their "news" from a brief foray into their daily local newscasts, does the once a week peep in on the Sunday news shows for "national and international" (and will maybe watch "60 Minutes" if there is something intriguing being featured), and might read some of news published digitally on internet from major news/analysis outlets.
So as much as the non-cable broadcast networks whine about "viewership", they do capture a significant chunk of the population who are somewhat interested in and following "politics", but not to the extent that most do here.

It can be done with Stacy Abrahams level ground games in CoC
BumRushDaShow
(128,535 posts)Not quite. Some examples -
Democrats say "Climate change"
(which is actually stressing them out as they watch the results in the extreme weather destroying the homes in their red areas)
Democrats say "Raise the minimum wage"
(which is actually stressing them out because doing so cuts into the profits of their corporate masters)
Democrats say "Healthcare/Medicare for all"
(which is actually stressing them out to the point where they are still trying to torpedo the ACA and any semblance of government-sponsored healthcare including traditional Medicare)
The problem isn't "the message". The problem is NOT OWNING THE MICROPHONE to put forth that message. And if liberals/progressives did, then they would be excoriated because now they are considered nothing more than "big corporations" = "bad".
There have been quite a few liberal/progressive ads that have been the equivalent to what you are indicating like this -
But again, the bigger issue is media access because if your side is not "invited" (and unless you own the outlet, then you MUST be "invited" and can't just barge in because thanks to Raygun, the "Fairness Doctrine" was eliminated), then you can yell and pound the podium all you want but no camera will be there, no reporters will be there, and no broadcaster will be there to show it. And even when you search "Fairness Doctrine" on Google, the first results are usually RW drivel.
Liberals/progressives (and surely both Al Franken and Al Gore tried) have to not only be willing to buy/create outlets, but be willing to operate them FOR YEARS at a loss and consider that "loss" as a "donation to the cause" (which is how many of the RW outlets have operated including ilk like the Washington Times).

Democrats are ***NOT*** running an A game when it comes t messaging and its to mostly people of color in the US.
Southwest Texas and Miami Dade in 2020 CANT NOT be blamed on the M$M, that was absences of Dem ground game.
The same resources used in garnering votes of mostly middle of the road white males can yield double if there were door to door ground games in communities of color proportionately.
Nope, dems have a messaging problem and only PART of it is the M$M blaming the M$M for the onus of the problem is whistling past the grave yard

(6,576 posts)To be effective, messaging must get to the target audience.
These tweets make me think that we don't have anyone within the Democratic organization who is contacting & working with show producers to ensure that our messages get out on the air, we're apparently allowing the GOP to dominate the message space. That's a big part of the problem, the DNC doesn't take "marketing" (marketing our ideas & solutions while pointing out the problems with the competition) seriously.
