Marsha Blackburn mistook the Constitution for the Declaration of Independence

Last edited Mon Mar 28, 2022, 09:15 AM - Edit history (1)

During the Senate confirmation hearings for Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson — President Joe Biden's nominee to replace the retiring Justice Stephen Breyer on the U.S. Supreme Court — Sen. Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee has resorted to nonstop buffoonery while playing the culture war card. And the GOP senator was clearly pandering to far-right evangelical voters when, on March 23, she tweeted, "The Constitution grants us rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness — not abortions."

But as Blackburn's critics are pointing out, "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" is not mentioned in the U.S. Constitution. It's in the Declaration of Independence.

Just wish it were unbelievable, but the GOP hasn't been packed with these types to protect the constitution, quite the contrary.

8. For many on the right their grasp of the Constitution is nebulous at best.

from the article

HuffPost's Ed Mazza notes, "Blackburn has something of a history of constitutional screw ups. Last year, she vowed: 'We will never rewrite the Constitution of the United States,' seemingly ignoring the 27 times it's been amended. Blackburn even co-sponsored resolutions in support of three potential amendments."

Hell, those mother fuckers blew off the U.S. Constitution in bush v Gore by making it illegal to count the votes
legally cast in Florida. One of the reasons why so many on the right and their rich supporters have worked to
pack the courts is because that way they can still keep power as the demographics will grind the GOP in the dust
..... as long as they allow fair voting.

9. Elected officials should have to pass same "naturalization test" as required for US Citizenship
Sun Mar 27, 2022, 09:30 AM

US Citizen and Immigration Services (USCIS) Officers ask applicants for citizenship "up to 10 of the 100 civics questions. An applicant must answer 6 out of 10 questions correctly to pass the civics portion of the naturalization test."
My opinion?
If you want to be an elected official of these here United States (any level) you should be asked all 100 questions.
And you should have to correctly answer all 100 questions.
This way you can still be a moron. But if you want to govern/legislate/judge, you have to be an educated moron.

See www.uscis.gov for further.

She mistakes the U.S. Senate for her daily meeting of the women's auxiliary of the KKK, too.
