A 25-man hit squad 'sent by the Kremlin' was reportedly rounded up on the border with Slovakia. The elite kill team carried orders to kill Zelensky and infiltrate Kyiv, according to news agency Unian.

Russia's latest attempt to assassinate Ukrainian president Zelensky was foiled after a 25-man hit squad was arrested on the border with Slovakia, Kyiv has claimed.

A team of more than two dozen trained killers was rounded up by police in Uzhgorod, western Ukraine, while on their way to Kyiv last night, Bild reported.

Kyiv counter-intelligence sources told news agency Unian the men were accompanied by a Russian secret service agent.

They reportedly carried orders to kill Zelensky and infiltrate other elements of the Ukrainian government.

7. I'm sorry, a little hard to believe...

It's said that they were carrying orders to kill Zelenski??? Why in the world would they carry their incriminating evidence orders ?? No something doesn't ring true here.

8. It's entirely possible that this was merely a mole-flushing exercise

That's not to say it wasn't also a serious assassination attempt. That's still possible as well.

But putin knows from previous attempts that there's a mole or moles within fsb and/or his inner circle.

So it's possible that this attempt was mostly intended to flush out the mole, by sharing plans with a more limited set of people.

The arrested assassins might have been seriously trained professional hit men or amateur dupes.

My guess is that putin sees identifying the mole as a higher priority.

10. I'll wait to see more convincing evidence. I do believe that pute needs to try and destroy

the Ukrainian leadership.

This line "They reportedly carried orders to kill Zelensky and infiltrate other elements of the Ukrainian government." How can some russian FSB/GRU assets infiltrate the government? Maybe over a period of 5-10-20 years, but not as a tactical maneuver (days/weeks/months).

he's an even bigger fool than the last 4 weeks have shown him to be.

What a fucking waste of everything and everyone this is, all so one of Putin's buddies can control the oil in Ukraine.
