Klobuchar says there's 'a textbook case' for Justice Thomas to recuse himself

Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, said Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas should recuse himself from certain cases after it emerged his wife, Virginia "Ginni" Thomas, sent text messages to former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows urging him to help overturn the 2020 election results. Klobuchar said it was "a textbook case for removing him, recusing him."

Meadows voluntarily turned over the messages to the committee last year before deciding not to cooperate with the inquiry. In January, the court declined to block the Jan. 6 committee from obtaining Trump White House records over the objection of only one justice: Thomas.

"The facts are clear here. This is unbelievable," Klobuchar told "This Week" co-anchor Jonathan Karl on Sunday. "You have the wife of a sitting Supreme Court justice ... advocating for overturning a legal election to the sitting president's chief of staff."

"And she also knows this election, these cases are going to come before her husband," she added. "This is a textbook case for removing him, recusing him from these decisions."

As a bona fide Republican Party Puppet, Klarence understands that KGOP Republicans are "special," and need not bother with ethical shit, or morality, or honor.

But the Nine Wise Souls are the law unto themselves. They don't even have to pinky swear that they'll be impartial, it's enough for any Justice on the Supreme Court to say - against all evidence to the contrary - that they can be impartial in any particular case.

This is a circumstance crying out for reform. We're a long ways away from the days when a Justice (Oliver Wendell Holmes or Holmes Junior? I don't rightly recall) resigned his seat when in his 90s after a friend noted that he seemed to be slipping the slightest bit.

Write and call your Senators...

Think about this...

Can Supreme Court Justice Thomas credibly carry on in office when it is revealed that his spouse was involved in a coup to overthrow the government?

Overthrow a duly elected President based on conspiracy theories promoted by the spouse and former law clerks of Justice Thomas?

Without his position on the Court the spouse would have had no special access to the White House via Meadows et al.

My answer as a voting tax paying citizen of the United States is NO; he can never be a credible Justice. Recusals won’t cut it.

This issue needs to be taken up by the Senate immediately. I think the possibility of impeachment is looming. The Court’s credibility has suffered but this may be a deciding blow.

Our country is broken, and DOJ doing nothing against the leaders of the J6 insurrection will only speed its demise.
