Blinken walked it back, which was the correct diplomatic thing to do.
Can we now shut the fuck up and move on?

(11,631 posts)Putin is a murderous war criminal. It shouldn't be controversial at this point to say he should be replaced as the leader in charge of the largest nuclear arsenal in the world.

(1,453 posts)Now we can talk about other, more important aspects of this illegal invasion of a sovereign nation.
Exploding fuel depots within meters of residential areas. Shooting people trying to cross the border to safety. Bombing schools, hospitals, maternity wards, churches (Evangelicals -- are you listening ??). Deploying weapons of grisly death. Murdering innocent unarmed civilians. A death toll that should NOT be tolerated.
Yes, putin is all of the things he was named. Butcher of unarmed, innocents.

(20,172 posts)Although I don't necessarily disagree with Graham, it was a stupid thing to say out loud. For the sake of Ukraine, the Russian people and the rest of the world, Putin needs to be removed from power. I honestly don't give a shit how it's done as long as it's sooner rather than later, but I would prefer he'd be removed by the citizens of Russia.

(45,426 posts)so let's gin up as much faux outrage as we can and put on a performance worthy of an Oscar
Look, I don't like gaffes either, but Putin needs to not be in power. I agree with President Biden on either interpretation, whether it's Putin not having power over smaller countries, or his own citizens removing him from office.

(19,972 posts)And I'm glad there has been a lot of noise about him saying it.
If nothing else it very publicly calls into question the presence of an invader/"butcher"/war criminal at the head of a nuclear power. The idea of Russia without Putin may not have occurred to some who are now giving it some thought.

(7,263 posts)He knew exactly what he was doing. Both saying it and having his WH walk it back.
He made a statement. The court of public opinion, er M$M, ruled he was out of order...but the jury, i.e. The People of the World got the message anyway.
Plus he rubbed Putrid's face in it by walking it back - it made what he said twice as powerful.
THIS is how a STRONG effective politician/diplomat works.
I salute President Biden.
