The perception that it was a gaffe or that there was backtracking is wrong. It's unfortunate that so many people, especially the media, will just not get it. I think the media consternation about which hand the coin is in is telling.

Unfortunately, they're too arrogant to tolerate feeling and seeming mystified on TV, so they report the "lack of clarity" as being anywhere but in their own ability to observe and analyze.
