(19,201 posts)Generals are usually safely quartered in the rear with the gear. All of these guys must be somewhere near the front where the action is.
Has the Russian command structure deteriorated so badly that Generals are at the front giving orders that much lower ranked officers or NCOs should be giving?
It would appear that way. I heard one analyst say that Russia's army is pretty much a joke, and that the only reason they're considered a "super power" is their nuclear arsenal.
Putin's invasion of Ukraine has exposed Russia as the fraud it actually is. It's nuclear capability is all anyone has to fear. Putin knows this too, which makes him a very dangerous person. Fighting a conventional ground war is no longer in his bag of tricks. Everyone has seen how poorly they've performed.

We had our own crazy bastards like Patton, who believed generals should lead charges like caesar did, but we eventually learned they're most useful behind tbe scenes.
Russia still had the generals in attack mode, and they still seem to be that way. The millions they lost under Stalin seems in their view to be a good thing.
