(7,263 posts)They don't support Putin.
The other 70% not so much.
Almost an exact reversal from the '70 against/30 for' US split on TFG.

(14,564 posts)The right here is more entrenched than ever, and the "middle" is bombarded with negative framing of the left - so to what extent they might agree with us on many issues, that is get over ridden by the generalzations, and all it takes is ONE thing that they agree with the right on, and they lean right ...
All in all, it is being stupid as fuck generally, and willing to cede common sense and decency to whatever lesser aspect of the human spirit that the right may appeal to them on.

(5,388 posts)was looking for 'how to' instructions from Putin in raising himself to 'dictator for life' status.
#45: "Help me, oh mighty Putin, for I want to be just like you!"
Fishing for the same from 'little rocket man' too, at one stage. Nice 'love letters', and all that.
Putin has gone quite mad since he was cut off from some of the important friendlies in the USA.
But I imagine it is a 3 way split in Russia, 1/3 of the population see Putin's regime as some sort of security blanket, 1/3 hate it, and 1/3 just don't care.

(6,820 posts)1/3 want democracy, straight up, no ice
1/3 want fantasy MAGA, all the bells and whistles
1/3 don't care, too busy, too tired, too happily uninformed

(266 posts)I was told in an email that his country had to invade in order to destroy the Nazis. He seemed sincere.
It made me very sad because he is a very good and kind man.
I'm still not certain whether he just wrote that because he was worried any email to an American might get read by his government before it was delivered. I'd like to believe he was just playing it safe.
He did say that there is no sugar or salt left in the stores. So the sanctions are already having an effect.
