4. I'd have to see what he said, or the context. He doesn't "give" any state to anyone at this pt.

That's called "calling the race," which he hasn't done.

He and others usually say things like, "Romney has been signficantly ahead in ___ for a while, so let's assume he wins that state" or "Obama has been polling ahead there since the 2nd debate with no break, so in this assumption, I'm giving that state to him."

I laughed when they legitimatized him as some type of "election expert". All it took was for him to kiss the "right" ass and whoosh! One day he was a political contributor and the next day...was "the go-to" guy on elections.

make it more likely that Republicans win. If the machines were owned by Democrats, maybe he would be making a different prediction?

Well, it's as good a reason as any especially since airc, that was the actual prediction made by Rep. Peter King from NY:

Congressman Peter King's (R-New York) pre-2004 election quote: ...
It's all over but the counting ....and we'll take care of the counting"

And he wasn't kidding. So maybe Chuck is simply agreeing with that assessmen by Peter King?

they need to create scenarios to fill time. However, his excitement about the possibility of a Robme win becomes ridiculous.

17. Since Obama has a much better chance at winning Ohio than Virgina, it was all for show

You may have noticed he gave Virgina to Obama and Ohio to Romney. Much, much stronger chance it will got the other way around.

Just flush it down the toilet with most everything else CNN does on the elections.
