Putin Had A List Of Countries He Threatened To Invade

Before Vladimir Putin's invasion of Ukraine, which started over a month ago, the Russian president allegedly listed five European nations as possible targets for a Russian take-over as the country had been building up their military strength.

The countries listed in a private threat issued by Putin in 2014 include Poland, Romania as well of the Baltic states of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.

Putin allegedly told the at-the-time Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, "If I wanted,
in two days I could have Russian troops not only in
Kyiv (Ukraine) but also in
Riga (Latvia),
Vilnius (Lithuania),
Tallinn (Estonia),
Warsaw (Poland) and
Bucharest (Romania)
."

He said it would take Russia only two days to take those six countries.

Whether it’s in sport or war.
Ukraine learned a lot from the attack in Donbas in 2014. Creating a trained reserve corp is paying off big time.

None of who have been called up, but that may be the point of “denazification” of a democratic neighbor. They’re an existential threat to mother Russia.

that one reason the Russian army is so bad is that they don't have a professional class of non-commissioned officers who make the service their careers...the sergeants/corporals who carry out the orders of the officers.

I had no idea that any army would not have non-coms who have years of institutional knowledge.

Conscripts are are a big reason why Russia's army is not doing well. Russia's army doesn't have professional non-commissioned ranks. Their recruits are conscripted for a year and the most promising are trained to be corporals/sergeants, but since it takes six months to be trained as non-commissioned officers, once they're trained there's just a few months left in their year of service and the process has to start all over again with new batch of conscripts.

Unbelievable. And Putin is bragging on his army.

Plus I think that they have not maintained their military equipment very well so that it is ready to go immediately.

Putin thought to make himself look powerful on the world stage, only to reveal to all that he is very weak.

They lacked the ability to supply and otherwise support those troops.

Ultimately though, what you are pointing out was the basic point of my post. I don't take issue with the brag that Putin could insert invading armies into his neighbors. Once he does, he won't be able to supply them or remove the dead.

Before the sanctions he could have flown them commercially. It'd not hard to get troops across a border. He still couldn’t hold it if he managed, however..
