To add, there was a DUer on here years ago who knew a relative Limbaugh.

You're exactly right, he was an angry, frustrated bigot and bully. He was, simply put, the epitome of deplorable.

The addict even had the balls to rail against softer drug laws.
Tucker Carlson learned his craft from him for sure. Raising hell on earth, worst case scenerios, to frighten older white people about the end of their God given closed minded culture. The dictatorship of inclusiveness and fairness will be their ruin. To them they feel forced to accept the "other" into the community, into sports, into entertainment. No more Leave it to Beaver.

What does it mean, that one can fill a large part of ones life with filler and when that at filler disappears you just find another filler. No muss, no fuss, there is always more filler.

(34,040 posts)i used to turn his show on once in awhile (know thy enemy) and i remember him crying about how the manatees were dying. seemed he talked about them for a number of weeks.
i remember how surprised i was to hear it--a whisper of humanity. (a fluke!)
then it was gone and he was his usual pos again

(13,865 posts)To vote repub, starting with Goldwater 64, and in his latter years listened to nothing but FOX, but he despised Limbaugh. He never liked blowhards, and said Rush reminded him of all the big mouth jerks he ran into at work.

(1,954 posts)I stated on here before his death that he's the hate radio king pin, once he's gone it will get much quieter. Today in my northern state, he of course is gone, but there's no Hannity either. just some "rush light has beens that never were". I'm guessing once he was gone a lot of car radios got switched to music or sports talk, etc.

(81,110 posts)Anybody hear his name mentioned anymore? By anybody? For a guy who cast such a loud shadow over talk radio for as long as he did, NOW? You wouldn't even know he was ever a factor. I don't hear or see anybody talking about him, reminiscing about him, remembering outrageous quotes from his show, mentioning him either for good or bad. Never see his name in print, or his "legacy" referred to, to the plus or to the minus.
Frankly, his very existence irked me to NO end. I hate it when the bad guys win, or the schmuck gets the prize or the evildoer gets rich. So it's struck me that this is probably the cruelest turn of events that could befall ANY villain, who caused as much divisiveness and damage, and stirred up as much anger and hatred as this jackass did. Nobody cares about him anymore. He's gone and forgotten. And as the tweet says: he left NOTHING. He offered NOTHING of value. Nothing of sustenance that fed the spirit and lifted the soul. Nothing - for what will help getting you through difficulty or adversity. Nothing. No monuments to that bastard, no foundations or institutions dedicated to keeping his memory alive. Nothing keeping him in the public's mind.
And I couldn't be happier about that. Wherever that bastard wound up, he would HATE it. That will be the unkindest fate that could possibly befall him.

(1,654 posts)Listening to him turned my MIL from an elderly conservative to someone I dreaded being around because believed he "tells it like it is."
Why conservative people are drawn to people with little real education but can talk a lot of BS as if they know it to be true is beyond me. He wasn't the first but unfortunately he spawned so many clones that it metastasized and to their followers they have more cred than those trying to spread truth.

but completely agree with the worthwhile part.
You know how lots of new rock bands claim The Beatles as their inspiration, even though the last record they made as a group is 52 years old and half the band has passed on? Limbaugh is like that. That slimy bastard is the inspiration for the entire hard right media empire. Name the RW media blight - Glenn Beck, Fox News, Alex Jones, Newsmax TV, OANN, any of them - and you can trace their bile directly back to Rush Limbaugh.
And its going to take 200 years to rid this country of his evil, if thats even possible.

And, also has a set of lawn sprinklers directed onto the slab, that showers the concrete slab every night at sundown to wash down the slab.............

(32,588 posts)We invoke Limbaugh's name constantly on DU. Mainly every time we blame the evil right-wingers who are responsible for f*cking up this country in the last 50 years. Limbaugh is personally responsible for 30 of the last 50 years.
