that's a pretty masterful list of work right there. Actually, Whedon once poked fun at himself for Alien: Resurrection. In the episode of Angel where we first meet Fred's parents, her mother says, "Oh, my husband loves all those Alien moves with all that blood and teeth and stuff. Except for that last one they made, I think he dozed off during that one."

Only somebody truly familiar with Whedon would have caught it, but that's basically Whedon making fun of himself in one of his shows about a previous work of his. No artist gets everything right all the time, hell, even Spielberg has put out a few bombs here and there. But rarely do they have the courage to make fun of themselves for it like Whedon does.
