This is like a lesson in how to facilitate older people while honouring who they are.
What a class act by @ladygaga with legend Liza Minnelli.
The conferred whispers of "I gotcha" "I know" picked up by the mikes make it especially touching.

Yet they crawled over top of each other to blast that ' explosive' bs drama headline in a loop, made for enquiring minds, clicks & advertisers.

(15,325 posts)But that's not what the ever classy Lady Gaga would do.
She'd look him straight in the face & make him feel like a really shitty man.

(54,770 posts)He mentioned someone I dont remember.
Then he said or Liza Minnelli. Got a serious groan, too.

(487 posts)It wasn't a great joke, but it was definitely not aimed at Minelli.

(487 posts)He literally said, "or Liza Minelli...At this point...At this point, she's clearly un-killable, She is... she's gonna live forever."
It was a bad joke, and he obviously knew it with the clumsy attempt to turn it into a compliment, but...
Clearly he was saying Will Smith was the opposite of manly when he hit Chris Rock, and was calling him out by asking why he didn't pick on an elderly woman in a wheel chair with a history of substance abuse (the long winded way of saying "feeble" . The gag has gotten no attention anywhere I can find outside this forum. It's a bit disturbing that some are so riled up that they are suggesting he deserves to get assaulted, too, it would seem.

(3,335 posts)It was clear she is frail and may not have had an idea of where she was. Lady Gaga was pure love and respect.

(51,308 posts)Lovely gesture.
I had no idea Liza was so frail.
It may well have been her last Oscar ceremony, and the moment was stolen by a selfish jerk.

(6,820 posts)Don't fret. It is. Will Smith being a boor to Chris Rock being Chris Rock will make the 15 min. of shock-and-awe news but Liza is timeless. L. Gaga, by association, will be held in greater esteem, even beyond the current line of sight.

(51,308 posts)It was really something to see.

(8,329 posts)She is an amazing talent but her music is not my music. That said, this was a very human interaction and showed her character.

(9,112 posts)Liza is only 1 1/2 years older than me. She abused alcohol and drugs while and after being a dancer and more for much of her life. And of course her mother Judy Garland was only 47 when she died.
Gaga is a marvel. She suffers from fibromyalgia. She suffers. She writes, paints, performs, playing piano and singing like a diva. She has a huge heart. I think Liza Minelli must be so proud to be there with her - DISPLAYING THE OPPOSITE OF TOXIC MASCULINITY.

(14,013 posts)what Lady Gaga was doing, and cheered them both on.
It was such a touching moment...in with the hours of ho-hum.

(51,308 posts)Tremendous empathy combined with respect.
None of that horrid baby talk you hear some people do with those who are older or in any way impaired. Hate that.
