St. Louis beer heiress joins race for U.S. Senate

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

JEFFERSON CITY — St. Louis beer heiress Trudy Busch Valentine joined the heated race for Missouri’s U.S. Senate seat Monday.

The move triggered former state Sen. Scott Sifton, who had represented south St. Louis County in the Legislature’s upper chamber until 2020, to exit the Democratic primary race and throw his support to the wealthy Clayton resident.

In a campaign video, Valentine recounted her childhood growing up at the iconic family estate, Grant's Farm, and highlighted her financial contributions to the nursing program at St. Louis University.

“Across Missouri our communities are strong but our politics are broken. We just need to talk to each other again,” she said. “We need something different. We need a new politics."

We had two Republicans from Texas named Bush that turned out not-so-okay (Daddy) and awful (junior).

So now two Democrats named Bus(c)h in Congress from Missouri would be a welcome counterbalance for history to add to its many footnotes.

Not because a Busch entered it but because someone is blowing up Facebook with several allegations against other Dems running for this seat and in congressional races.

The allegations are bad-really bad.

Trudy can afford to do some polling before making this decision and I am sure she did. Her family knows a little bit about marketing. She would not be throwing her hat in the ring unless she knew there is a good chance she will win.

I am not jumping up and down happy to have a Busch in the Senate, but it damn sure beats a Greitens.
