Get your butts back to New York City because New York City is where you want to be! Eric Adams said Monday night. The where he was referring to specifically was Midtown (somehow its always Midtown), at One Vanderbilt, at a promotional event for a credit card targeted at renters.
Adams (and his butt) attended the party with the kinds of celebrities who will show up to a party for a credit card targeted at renters: Dr. Oz, Floyd Mayweather, Cara Delevingne, KAWS, and Wells Fargo credit-card partner Bilt Rewards (the ghosts of the fake accounts Wells Fargo created for clients between the years 2002 and 2016 hovered nearby). A$AP Rocky and Wyclef Jean performed. Delevingne danced, while Adams stood, smiled, and flashed the occasional thumbs-up.

(94,385 posts)And that's not a pejorative, just reality. Adams' political base has been central Brooklyn: working class, non-college educated African Americans, who take a lot of cues from their religious leaders (who in NYC are very politically active) and the Kings Country Democratic Party. He also picked up a lot of votes from low-income South Bronx and southern Queens. The progressive vote in Williamsburg, Greenpoint and LIC went for Wiley, but as I've said before, it's not that big a pool. The college-educated vote in Brownstone Brooklyn and Manhattan and the conservative Democratic vote in Staten Island (yes, they exist too) went to Garcia.

The difficulty of replacing these items is exasperated by not having an address of residency.
I loathe that they clear out the possessions of our homeless citizens with little regard to their personal effects.

Dropping $2K or more for a month's NYC rent on a credit card can easily place people behind the eight ball and then create an even more destructive financial environment. While those who can churn their cards for points will benefit, those barely getting by could easily rob Peter to pay Paul and that could lead them to max their credit and live to pay off debts. One late payment could see all of their credit go to default rates and plunge them deeper into the abyss. This could jeopardize employment and/or job searches, etc. This might facilitate some into homelessness. don't know if NYC allows rent to be paid via credit card now, but that's a dangerous practice.
