many years ago, I was at a roe v wade rally. as was typical, we were surrounded by those annoying, woman-hating, pro-forced birth anti-choicers (one of whom tried to assault me in full view of a cameraman and a police officer, who did nothing). a young woman went to the mic, and her words made me want to cry. She looked over at the antis--and said, "I am the woman that you people insisted HAD to born. My mother was raped, and she could not get an abortion. I just want you to know that I hate each and every one of you, and wish I had never been born. My life has been one filled with anger, and resentment, and poverty, thanks to all you pious people out there."
Every time I hear one of those pious bastards, I think of that sad young woman, and get sick all over again. I wish I believed in hell, because THAT is where each and every one of them belongs.

And to the extent we can encourage it, it would be good if anyone born of rape considers life (not the means by which they were conceived) a gift as well and cherishes it and feels cherished by their fellow fully formed humans.
