How would you feel if you went into a car dealership to purchase a new vehicle and were told

that you only had three choices: a frugal small car with 20 standard features, an ordinary medium-sized car with the same 20 features PLUS 27 more or the super-zoomy "full size" luxury model with every feature and option ever offered in any auto anywhere? And, those basic 20 features included on all the choices include whitewall tires, curb feelers, plastic seats and a standard transmission, none of which you want.

And, how would you react if, after picking out a new pair of dress shoes, the salesman told you you'd have to also buy three pairs of socks, a suit, two dress shirts and two ties if you wanted the shoes?

And, what if restaurants only served baked potatoes with steaks, only asparagus with salmon and only rissoto with chicken? And Roquefort was the only dressing offered with the iceberg lettuce wedge served with every meal.

Tell me again why I have to pay for a quilting channel, a jewelry channel and a knife channel if I want to watch MSNBC, CNN and NPR?

to watch msnbc, but no bbc world?

and why do I get every religious channel but cant get half the channels I want that used to be standard when you got cable?.
And why the millions of sports channels, I hate sports. And all the spanish channels when I dont speak spanish?
wasting airwaves with bullshit. And don't get too confident about streaming what you want,
Eventually the corporations will pack it full of ads and start limiting what you can stream into
a tiered pay system. It's only a matter of time..ya know greed and control..

The cable companies need to lose their corporate charters
and advertisements need to be permanently limited to 2 ads an hour.
make these annoyances compete for once.

Fuck capitalism.

And or find a free online streaming site for news sites such as those you listed. (they are out there)

But yes, I totally agree with you on frustration that MSNBC not being on a base level cable package especially knowing Fox is. No wonder ratings are skewed the way the are.

You can sign up for CNN directly; and you will probably be able to sign up for MSNBC in the future. Of course then you'll probably be complaining that your individual streaming subscriptions will be as expensive as a cable subscription.

And FWIW, you probably have a choice between at least two cable companies.

CNN. Right now I have Sling mainly just for MSNBC and CNN. The Firestick gets you access to free IDMB and lots of others. I dream of NO Fox. PS, cut Xfinity and got 5g T-Mobile. They send you the router, you set up easy, best wifi in years, cheaper and less breakdowns.

Says the woman who bought or participated in the purchase of 7 cars in two years.

But to address what you're actually posting, I don't own a conventional TV. I do watch plenty of television over the internet. I have Amazon Prime, Netflix, and Hulu. There are other streaming services out there. Plus, when some breaking news happens, I'll quickly Google TV stations in that city, and almost invariably at least one of them will have gone to live streaming. Nice.

I will never again own a regular TV, as I get to see as much as I have time for already.

And how I came to no TV is sort of interesting. When I first moved to my current city in 2008, I did not have enough money to purchase a television. Nor could I afford cable or satellite hook up. The real clincher, as odd as this might sound, was that the cable hook-up in the apartment I rented was just under the living room window. I'm in Santa Fe. We have strong and wonderful light here. So to put a TV in front of that window would block a lot of the light, and I'd need to keep the blinds closed any time during the day that I'd be watching. So, I decided I could do without. At the time, I honestly expected that at some point I'd get a regular TV and cable. Especially as a year later I bought a place, and the cable hook up here is on a wall. But by then I was used to no regular TV. Again, I want to stress that I watch my fair share of television, just not the usual way.

Oh, and if you want, I've actually written up a thing about buying cars that I could pass on. Really, buying a car is not hard. Especially as there's a LOT of information available on the internet.
