Alex Jones made a settlement offer in one of the Sandy Hook lawsuits...

Specifically the case in Connecticut (as opposed to the two cases in Texas), the one for which he skipped his deposition last week claiming illness.

For clarity, he has already lost the case by default judgement, the deposition is part of the damages phase. There's going to be a hearing on Wednesday for a request by the plaintiffs to sanction Jones et al (again, they've been sanctioned before by this judge) for not cooperating with the deposition.

He offered $120,000 per plaintiff (8 families of deceased, and one FBI agent). The plaintiffs' attorneys quickly rejected the offer. They want him deposed, and he really, really doesn't want that.

Should be interesting. Let's see some justice!

Loud-mouthed, lowlife piece of crap. I want this guy ruined. I want him beaten down so low he can pull his socks up over his head.

He doesn't deserve the air in his lungs. I hope no radio station in the world will ever think of giving that demented pug a microphone again.

Anyone, for that matter, can do a podcast and use various internet platforms to distribute it.

The AM and FM bands aren’t needed to spread bullshit any longer.

Or good information, as the case may be.

are rural bumpkins that don't have reliable internet access. He could have podcasts, but he wouldn't be able to reach many of his AM band zealots, which are substantial.

I understand where your perspective is coming from, but I travel extensively and drive through rural areas all the time, and I can assure you, the farmers and folks in the Great Plains and other parts of rural America have access to the internet, just like you do.

I’m often listening to MSNBC on their app or my TV providers app (DirecTV) so I am accessing the internet on my phone, while I drive across rural areas.

Farmers have smart phones too, and more likely than not, their equipment (John Deere Combines, most notably) is connected to the internet.

LTE, 4G and 5G internet connectivity is more widespread than you might think, and the “dead zones” are getting smaller every month.

The “Bumpkins” reference is frankly outdated. Sure, the politics of Rural America leans heavily to the right, but they aren’t out of touch with modern technology.

And I’m pretty sure the guy operating that wheat or corn harvester knows more about the Commodities and Futures markets than he is given credit for and is more up to date on front month contract prices as he is cutting the 500 acre field I regularly drive by than most people in the city.

after him heaping more pain onto people already suffering, it really is an insult.

But, no one ever said Alex Jones was even human-decency adjacent. Just another grifter.

Sandy Hook families reject settlement offer from Infowars host Alex Jones (The Guardian)

Alex Jones, host of the conspiracy theory and rightwing disinformation website Infowars, has had an offer to pay $120,000 per plaintiff to resolve a lawsuit rejected by relatives of the Sandy Hook school shooting victims who said he defamed them by asserting the massacre never happened, according to court filings.

-snip-

Lawyers for the families rejected the settlement offer within a few hours, saying in court filings that it was a “transparent and desperate attempt by Alex Jones to escape a public reckoning under oath with his deceitful, profit-driven campaign against the plaintiffs and the memory of their loved ones lost at Sandy Hook”.

early in the first season.

Bartlet and Leo are having it out over a "proportionate response." Then Leo changes the subject.

(something like this)

Leo: Get this, Bertram Coles,---
Bartlet: Oh, I love anything that starts with Bertram Coles.

And that's it. That's the funny part. With some people, you just say their name and you don't need a punchline. The person themself is the joke.

"Alex Jones,---"

It had to do with a lawsuit to charge oil companies for the clean-up of oil spills, but it’s germane to the Alex Jones lawsuit. “We need to charge him so much money, he doesn’t even want to go on living!”
