Capehart hosts a weekly Opinions podcast, Capehart, formerly named Cape Up, and the weekly Washington Post Live show First Look, which streams on Peacock, NBCUniversals streaming service. Capehart is also the host of The Sunday Show with Jonathan Capehart, which airs Sundays 10:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m. ET on MSNBC. In addition, he serves as a political analyst on PBS NewsHour and is featured on the popular Friday segment, Brooks and Capehart.
Over the past 15 years, Jonathan has built a loyal following that extends the pages of Post Opinions with ventures into podcasting, hosting Washington Post Live programs and anchoring his own national news show, said Fred Ryan, publisher and CEO of The Post. Jonathans approach to dissecting the news in meaningful and conversational ways has made him an esteemed figure at The Post and in the media industry. We are thrilled to have him take on a greater leadership role.
Prior to joining The Post, Capehart was deputy editorial page editor of the New York Daily News and served on that papers editorial board from 1993 to 2000. In 1999, his 16-month editorial campaign to save the famed Apollo Theater in Harlem earned him and the board the Pulitzer Prize for Editorial Writing. Capehart left the Daily News in July 2000 to become the national affairs columnist at Bloomberg News, and took a leave from this position in February 2001 to serve as a policy adviser to Michael Bloomberg in his first successful campaign for New York City mayor.

Paul should be proud knowing that one of his students has done so well for himself. Jonathan Capehart is so awesome in all that he does.

(16,783 posts)In the late 90's. I have fond memories.
I still have our 2002 US Senate lawn sign with a Black bow on it. I will have it out this Election cycle. It will be 20 years since their tragic deaths in Eveleth. We were active with his re-election in 2002.
I also have the button that was handed out at the Memorial at Williams Arena my husband attended. I could not attend. My job at the time would not allow me.

Sen Wellstone exemplified the term Progressive.

(6,254 posts)through The Bankruptcy Reform Act that was written by MBNA Bank and was a vicious law that still to this day screws the middle class making it harder and more expensive to file Chapter 7 & 13 bankruptcies. Before the law, a person filing BK was considered to have filed in good faith. After the Reform Act Chapter 7 consumer bks were and are considered presumptively files in bad faithand its up to the consumer to prove otherwise by means testing. Was there bankruptcy abuse before the act, sure but it was a fraction of what the bank lobby claimed. Most bankruptcies. I handled were caused overwhelmingly by 1. Job loss, 2. healthcare costs, and 3.Divorce or separation. Bankruptcy is a responsible way for people to handle debts and obtain a fresh start in life. Most people who file are hardworking, responsible people who got jammed up financially. Oh, and lastly, its near impossible to discharge federal student loans which also needs to change. Wellstone was a hero who died too soon

(21,299 posts)Capehart was on Tweety's show, Hardball. He pulled out the newspaper photo and proclaimed that the photo was not Bernie, fighting for housing for minorities. Tweety went along with Capehart. When I later found out that it was indeed Bernie in the photo I merely expected that Tweety and Capehart would simply apologize, an honest mistake. I never saw that apology from either man.

(15,325 posts)"But after months of following the Democratic primary race, Ive found it impossible to avoid a basic conclusion:
The corporate media is in the bag for Hillary Clinton, lock, stock, and barrel. And while their unrelenting advocacy may not reach the level of nefarious conspiracy, it is transparently corrupt. And if the nations center-left wants to understand why progressives seem to have staged a sudden revolt from the Democratic party, and are threatening to abandon Hillary Clinton in the general election, they have to understand this feeling of betrayal."
Shane Ryan is a pantload propagandist.
Media hated Hillary. Loved Trump. Protected Sanders.
We all witnessed it.

Capehart and Tweety should have apologized and moved on.

(12,310 posts)Don't Shoot was a Lie" editorial he did. He said forensics determined that "hands up dont shoot was a lie."
Forensics can't determine that Brown never had his hands up and said don't shoot!! He used a word people think is scientific proof of something to push this bullshit.
Really pissed me off. And shortly after he said this, he got his fucking reward.
I for one will never forgive him for that.
