For red and blue America, a glaring divide in COVID-19 death rates persists 2 years later

According to polling... as of February 2022, just 56% of Republicans are vaccinated, as compared to 70% of Independents, and 92% of Democrats. In addition, a third of Republicans reported that they definitely would not get vaccinated.

An ABC News analysis of federal data found that on average, the death rates in states that voted for Trump were more than 38% higher than in states that voted for Biden, post widespread vaccine availability.

In addition, in the 10 states with the lowest percentage of full vaccinations, death rates were almost twice as high as that of states with the highest vaccination rates, the analysis found.

Over the span of the last 10 months, in the 10 states with the lowest vaccination rates, where between 50 and 54.5% of the total population had been fully vaccinated, there was an average of 153 COVID-19-related deaths per 100,000 residents.

In contrast, during the same time period, the 10 states and jurisdictions with the highest vaccination rates, which all voted for Biden, there was an average of about 82.2 related deaths per 100,000 residents. In all 10 states, about 75% of residents had been fully vaccinated.

a good one 👍. It's just pitiful that the misinformed can't look beyond the circle of lies. No critical thinking skills and that's how their "leaders" like it. Sad.

Right now, the CDC says a non vaxxed person is 97 more times likely to die from Covid than a fully vaxxed and boosted person. 97 times!

Covid as a severe disease and risk of death is an unvaccinated people problem now, full stop.

If you are fully vaxxed and boosted, the risk of getting severe Covid or dying from it is almost non existent.

There are rural counties near where I live where the confirmed death toll from COVID-19 is less then a dozen since the pandemic started. Others have less then 2 dozen. Many more have 50 or less. A 50% increase in the death rate when numbers are low to begin with doesn't make much of a debt.

... the number of deaths beyond the average.

Some of those counties wouldn't even say the word "covid" if it bit them.
People died of a fast-killing pneumonia... or pulmonary collapse...or some such shit.

Even if one adds in unconfirmed COVID 19 deaths, the numbers aren't high even if the death rate is 20% to 50% higher.

In smaller communities, wouldn't everybody know somebody who died of Covid?
Wouldn't the impact be felt harder?

The people I know or heard of that died from COVID-19 or complications caused by COVID 19, were for the most part, elderly and/ or had serious underlying conditions. Their deaths were not a surprise.

... the NEXT one could be a helluva lot worse, and the morons have been reassured that they don't need none of that Science stuff, because they survived.

While the rest of us get the vaccine for what might turn out to be Captain Trips... the no-vaxxers will be piling up like cordwood.

Well, golly gee, that's too bad. However, it is a way to "decrease the surplus population".

I'll save my compassion for those whose goal in life isn't to "own the libs".
