I am a little worried about eastern PA. Are the counties hardest hit in VA and NC red or blue?

I looked up Phillys weather, it says high winds with only a few inches of rain. They should be fine. I think the good news is that the cities recover quicker than the rural areas. That is why I like the saying "Pennsylvania has Pittsurgh and Philadelphia on two sides, but Alabama in the middle"

E Pluribus Unum should still mean something.
In an emergency or disaster, we don't care about ID cards - we need to get the first responders there and give them all the support they need. We need to get rescue and repair going asap.
I've been through too many hurricanes. Keep everyone safe. Keep everyone safe. That's all that matters right now.

(1,330 posts)7. Sandy is a large storm system, but...
if it's coming in at 75-80 mph it's a low category 1. Katrina came in at a high 3-low 4. Big difference in wind strength.
The size of Sandy makes it extra dangerous. Also, it's apparently slow moving. I just spoke to my brother in NJ, who's been through hurricanes here in N.O. and Irene last year. Flooding will be a concern, especially along the coastal areas. Power outages. Restoring power will depend on tree branches on lines, poles or lines down, the grid. Some may have power pack within hours after the storm passes. Some may take up to a week. Flooding on the coast will cause major damage.
I hate to say it, but here's the so-called "October surprise." President Obama's ability to campaign will be limited. He'll be very busy being president and managing a disaster.
Pray for everyone to be safe. No loss of life this time.
