"that's what happens when you screw with radiation like it's a play ground"
EDIT FOR CAVEAT: Looks like the root source of this info is from Telegraph App so it is yet to be confirmed but probability is not low it be true in some form seeing RA was kicking around radioactive dust and breathing it in.

(8,052 posts)not enough food, not enough sleep, just endless shifts at gunpoint. So, I have limited sympathy for the terrorists. Edit to add: the Ukrainian nuclear plant workers are being exposed, but I guess there's no treatment for them.

(32,079 posts)It's absolutely horrifying as it is, but he's doing this to his own troops? I'm just going to assume that the OP's "GREAT NEWS" is sarcasm.

Whatever takes them off the board is indeed great news.
My empathy for Russian aggressors is nil.
Wingus Dingus
(8,052 posts)That's my feelings on it. 5 weeks in, they're no longer confused as to what they're doing there, the way they were the first week. They're committing atrocities now.

(1,481 posts)thought the title was more like a head smack, as in oh great, just what we've all feared would happen.

(16,369 posts)And war is often simply a matter of attrition anyway. So yes, if one is pro Ukraine or even Ukrainian, irradiated Russian soldiers, conscripts or otherwise, is great news.

(115,674 posts)and they don't deserve that kind of suffering. He doesn't care, though.

soldiers probably get similar treatment ias any other nation if not worse for failure to follow orders. probably consider it treason.
just a huge catastrophic tragedy which could and should have been avoided.

(6,169 posts)That stirs up dust, which they breathed in.

(24,406 posts)aside from the fact that Putin is an incompetent war criminal who does not care very much about his people/troops.
lapfog_1
(29,199 posts)I don't care who got radiation sickness... this is absolutely horrible news for the environment near Chernobyl.
I hope it is from prolonged exposure to dust and dirt being stirred up by human activity in the exclusion zone.
Other causes would be much more disturbing.

(8,958 posts)It's been that way since the reactor blew up in the 80's. It will not be safe for humans for about the next 10,000 years.
Hate to say it, but most of those troops are probably dead men walking
Wingus Dingus
(8,052 posts)My sympathy lies with them. At least these soldiers are going to get treatment. Honestly, at this point, if they don't desert...fuck 'em. This is how it has to be.
Gore1FL
(21,127 posts)That has been confirmed by several sources. This story of them being treated in Belarus might be the best for them. A bunch of young, untrained, and uninformed kids are going to die miserable deaths because they were dragged hundreds of miles away from home to work in radiation.
uponit7771
(90,335 posts)... they're pulling back in that area, like out of a freakin horror movie.

(21,560 posts)what radiation is, what Chernobyl is, why digging in the forest was a bad idea... kept in the dark by their leaders and essentially sacrificed to dig trenches.
and why are all the buses going to Belarus? Is there something wrong with the hospitals in Russia? (That's a rhetorical question. i know why Putin isn't bringing the dead and sick home).

(90,335 posts)... dirt trenches with radioactive dirt would kill anyone.
WhiskeyGrinder
(22,326 posts)uponit7771
(90,335 posts)... has been confirmed by Ukr general of Chernobyl, Pentagon and multiple plant workers who say RA went throughout forest kicking up the dust for weeks and staying there.
The plant workers aren't even allowed to go into the areas the Russian solidiers did.
I'm linking the 20% fake "troop withdraw" for peace from that area to the radiation, Putrid NEVER EVER does something that's not self serving

"UKR" seems to mean a Ukrainian news agency, not someone in the field of health and radiation effects on it - or on what the situation at Chernobyl is.

(5,164 posts)there were not dangerous or higher levels of radiation present there? Maybe I missed something recent that has happened.
