Despite Trumps assertions, stores near him have it in stock.
I am very curious about the last time Donald Trump went to a grocery store. One can only assume that someone is giving Trump bad information about whats happening in grocery stores. How else to explain Trumps assertion about bread shortages in an interview this week?
You go to a store, they dont have bread, Trump said. Were like a Third World country. They dont have things.
Actually, Mr. Trump, they do.
So if we assume that Trump didnt go to a grocery store and that stores near him had bread anyway, where did he hear this? Well, friends, one cable-news network has talked about bread (shortages) and (empty) grocery stores a lot more than its competitors. And it just happens to be the one that Trump watches most religiously. This month alone, bread and grocery stores have come up nearly 20 times on Fox News and Fox Business.
I will point out that Trumps comments about the supply chain didnt end with bread.
[or] youre going to buy something at a hardware store - they dont have (any) products.

(32,075 posts)That's when everyone was wiping their butts with coffee filters due to toilet paper shortages, and making sourdough bread because of bread and yeast shortages. No hand soap, Purell, bleach, rubbing alcohol, disinfectant wipes, face masks... There's plenty of all of that stuff now.

(5,163 posts)I had to buy some called Lil' Dutch Maid to get crackers with unsalted tops! Publix wants $3.71 a box for Nabisco, if they have them at all. And don't get me started on the scarcity of Fancy Feast flavors my cats can eat without throwing up!

(5,163 posts)I have never even considered going in Aldi, and won't until they get rid of that ridiculous rent a cart system. I don't have that problem at Publix or Kroger, and there are no Aldis where I go in my town.

(4,544 posts)A BOATLOAD more at Publix. Aldi has incredible selection, at amazing prices.
I keep a quarter in my pocket book to get the cart and then you get your quarter back at the end after returning it.
The carts are always in excellent shape as opposed to WalMart carts that are sometimes out of alignment or the wheels are jammed.
And they have been offering brown bags in NY state for a few years while the state was eliminating plastic bags.
Yea, if you overcome the cart issue you would find Aldi is a great store. But, after reading your comment a second time, I see you dont have an Aldi near you. Well, just a suggestion if you do come across one!

(26,047 posts)It keeps the carts in good shape and not stolen, which keeps prices down. Your loss. Weird thing to use to boycott an excellent company.
They have the product you need.

(81,404 posts)Our ruling
Trump said stores "dont have bread."
His office didnt provide any examples, and industry data shows no major issues. A particular baked good might be missing briefly from a grocery stores shelf, but stores carry many varieties of bread. If one is unavailable, customers generally have many other options.
We rate this claim False.

(4,298 posts)My daughter buys meat for her family on Sunday evenings and Monday mornings...yellow stickers show mark downs and as much as 80% because people in this area are fairly well off but smart buyers. The stuff doesn't sell over the week-end because of high prices and people are leaving it on the shelves.
I asked one of the meat clerks what happens to all the meat that is left, especially the prime cuts. He said that store employees are lately making out with some stuff but food pantries in our area receive a lot of the meats, cheeses, and fresh veggies. And then some is just thrown out.
