Maybe you haven’t noticed. Maybe your eyes popped out of your head with the skull-crushing exasperation of it all, as you sighed One Last and Ultimate Time, fed up with living through the sheer never-ending stupidity of times like these — in which case, reader, I congratulate you.

Or maybe, like some of the rest of us, you have. Things aren’t exactly going swimmingly right about now. In fact, the pool feels like it’s full of turd, or acid, in which we’re all neck deep, only some of us, it appears, haven’t noticed, and so they’re thrashing around joyously in this poisonous cocktail, getting it all over the rest of us, because they seem to be preparing, determined, to win a Gold Medal in the Olympics of Human Stupidity.

Do you get this feeling these days? Seeing the world plunge right on ahead into another wave of Covid, climate catastrophe, at the brink of world war, hurtling headlong into even worse inequality, cratering into the abyss of regress…and it all feels so painfully stupid that the lucky ones are those whose eyes finally just thankfully just popped out of their heads with the imbeicility of it all? What is this, the 7th wave of Covid, or the 8th? Why don’t we ever do anything about impending climate doom? Jesus, what else would it take? How did we get here?

This is the Age of the Dumb Bastard. And the rest of us? We’re just along for the ride. Only it’s a demonic amusement park where we’re on a rollercoaster plunging past the Middle Ages, and, it appears, rocketing straight to hell. Being a complete and total bastard to the limit of what you can get away with? It’s the dominant force in society now. It feels like it’s all there is left, as a social value, a culture more, a thing holding society together sometimes.

8. There is some truth to the article - but more in what you said.

Several people in my orbit are proud dumbasses and they have many dumbass friends. I'm happy to know many more normal people who are fed up with attention the dumbasses receive.

It reminds me of something I once said in a client meeting - sometimes the squeaky wheel is just an asshole.

The voices were always there, but they were on the fringes and people could easily avoid or ignore them.

Then the Orange Shit-Stain came along and organized them into a toxic voting bloc. They make enough noise to fool people that they're in the majority, but they're still in the minority. So far.

They are totally disgusting and selfish to the extreme though, so we must do whatever we can to push them back to the fringes. Me must never give up.

I thought I’d just laugh at that video, but this poor guy was a victim. He was just a lonely person looking for something and people took advantage of him. Now he’s broke, homeless, and alone. I hope he gets help and gets back on his feet.

She was crossing the middle of the street, on the phone of course and a car was coming toward her—too fast I guess.

The car stopped to let her pass. She stopped in front of the car and raised her bottom and twerked.
