Imagine It's March 1941, and UK is Fighting Hitler With Our Support through the Lend-Lease Policy.

The U.K. is fighting Hitler, and we're a non-combatant ally of the U.K.

Now imagine, in the midst of this, Republican Wendell Willkie, embittered after losing the election to FDR, ASKED HITLER for political dirt on FDR's son James, in order to do damage and undermine Roosevelt.

You'd probably think that was the most treasonous thing since Benedict Arnold. Well, that's what Trump just did. In the middle of a war between Russia and our ally Ukraine, Trump asked PUTIN for dirt on the President's son. And it's greeted with a great big yawn from the MSM.

While most people probably didn't LIKE Hitler, there was a strong (especially on the Republican side) isolationist movement, and the US still had diplomatic relations with Germany until Pearl Harbor. Lend-Lease was in fact an attempt by FDR to quietly support the UK without appearing to publicly take sides.

Such a request would have been fairly popular among Bundists and America Firsters.

I don't think there was anything the right-wing in those days would have considered beyond the pale if it would do harm to Roosevelt.

he sees nothing pathetically wrong with such a solicitation from a war criminal directing an invasion of an ally of ours.

As if the election, long past after 17 months, is going to be overthrown with him being re-installed in the White House.

Cray-cray.
