I got my second Moderna booster this morning. I walked into my normal pharmacy in the supermarket at 9:30 AM with no appointment, and was out the door fifteen minutes later. It would have been faster, but they had to wait for the vaccine to warm up to room temperature. Nobody was waiting, and the pharmacy worker who gave me the shot said I was the first second booster she had given. Nobody was waiting when I got there, nor was any one waiting when I was done.
So, you can get yours now, and maybe not even have to wait in line. Why wait?

(2,220 posts)Why wait that long? Because shots #1-3 kicked my butt for a couple days, and the eighth is the first day I will have a couple days of unscheduled recovery time after I get the shot.

(146,287 posts)I've had no side effects other than a sore arm and a little tiredness. I'm also retired, so it doesn't matter in my case. The worst would be that I don't feel like posting on DU so much for a day or two. Some will be glad of that, I'm sure...

Kaiser will come around within a few days, no doubt. It's on for people over 50, after four months from the previous booster.

(10,167 posts)and was done in minutes. I went yesterday to the same store and was sent home to make an appointment on the computer, being warned that there were no appts until Friday. I went online and checked a nearby 24hr., much larger Walgreen's and got an appt. for 1 1/2 hours later. I grabbed it.
My husband took his first Moderna booster (4th shot), as that's all they had at the smaller store. I was given Pfizer at the bigger store. I don't think it much matters, or at least I hope not. But you're right!
Appt. slots are filling fast!

(146,287 posts)As soon as the booster was approved, I went to my pharmacy the next morning. I've gotten through two years without getting COVID. I'm not going to let down my guard now.

(34,050 posts)and was turned away for second booster; pharmacist told me they have to wait for word from corporate.
i looked at their website the next day (wednesday) and there was a notice for people over 50 could get booster but when i filled out the appointment crap it told me NO--i didn't need one at this time (even tho it had been 5 months since last one)
so i called to ask if i could come in without appointment. they asked the *different* pharmacist on duty and she said i could come in.
so i did. got it yesterday (wednesday) afternoon.
there was one other person who came in after me (without appointment).

(533 posts)CVS website let me sign up & make the appointment yesterday, so I guess they got their act together. No copay (Medicare Advantage)-and I was only in there 15 minutes tops. They didn't require an observation period although they said I was welcome to sit there for 15 minutes if I wanted. Not another person in the store was masked, customer OR employee. So I left. This is Missouri and our useless Governor declared yesterday that Covid is over!
