(118,026 posts)their own base/viewers every day into thinking trans people are taking over. I call it negative marketing

(15,959 posts)This just further cements my dislike for Caitlyn Jenner that has deepened as I've learned more and more about her hypocrisy. It blows my mind that she's still a staunch supporter of the party that would happily wipe her and the entire trans community out of existence if they could.
What a sellout. What a traitor.

(118,026 posts)nasty viewers and they will run to connect to the de Santises of the GOP. The De Santises arms will be open wide with more anti trans tropes this 2022 election year.

(15,959 posts)But I'll bet you're right. Here's hoping she doesn't last long over there.
It's weird how dense she is about this stuff. She's a misfit in the conservative community because she's trans, and she's a misfit in the LGBTQ community because she supports anti-LGBTQ politicians. And she doesn't even seem to realize it.
To steal a line from an old Kris Kristofferson song, she's "a walking contradiction, partly truth and partly fiction."

(1,962 posts)Caitlyn Kardashian is going to Fux Noise so she can attack trans people herself... along with getting money and camera time. Then Fux can point to her, say "See? The world's most famous trans person agrees with us. So you all need to know your role and shut your mouth!"
She, thanks to greed and not caring about anyone but herself, has done her share of punching down on the rest of the trans community over the years. Truthfully, I think she's transphobic except for herself.
Republican loves their useful idiots: Candace Owens, Amy Phoney Barrett, Phyllis Schlafly. And gladly use them to attack the oppressed by saying "Our token *insert group here* agrees with us!"

That is absolutely right. And she's already gotten a head start with her opposition to trans girls in womens sports (when she was pretending to run for governor of California): https://www.sacbee.com/news/nation-world/national/article251123744.html

(1,962 posts)And something tells me that if she were "running" for governor right now, she'd speak out in support of "Don't Say Gay" and what's going on in Texas. But she's not, so... Something tells me she'll be speaking out in support of the red state bigotry on Faux.

(22,441 posts)Finally, there is one more important reason for this veto. I must admit, I am not an expert on transgenderism. I struggle to understand so much of it and the science is conflicting. When in doubt however, I always try to err on the side of kindness, mercy and compassion. I also try to get proximate and I am learning so much from our transgender community. They are great kids who face enormous struggles. Here are the numbers that have most impacted my decision: 75,000, 4, 1, 86 and 56.
75,000 high school kids participating in high school sports in Utah.
4 transgender kids playing high school sports in Utah.
1 transgender student playing girls sports.
86% of trans youth reporting suicidality.
56% of trans youth having attempted suicide.
Four kids and only one of them playing girls sports. Thats what all of this is about. Four kids who arent dominating or winning trophies or taking scholarships. Four kids who are just trying to find some friends and feel like they are a part of something. Four kids trying to get through each day. Rarely has so much fear and anger been directed at so few. I dont understand what they are going through or why they feel the way they do. But I want them to live. And all the research shows that even a little acceptance and connection can reduce suicidality significantly. For that reason, as much as any other, I have taken this action in the hope that we can continue to work together and find a better way. If a veto override occurs, I hope we can work to find ways to show these four kids that we love them and they have a place in our state.

(15,959 posts)that the Utah state legislature voted to override his veto. Fucking Republicans.

(1,962 posts)And he is absolutely right - both in his intention and meaning, along with those heartbreaking numbers.
I respect and applaud anyone who "errs on the side of kindness", as he has here. Same response I had a number of years ago when Jeff Pearlman did a "Quazz" on his old blog with Amy Grant. They discussed marriage equality, and she said she didn't understand what it was like to be gay, but, when she found herself not understanding, she chose to replace ignorance with compassion.
Those numbers... So telling. So sad, and frightening. But they do a terrific job of showing how hard it is being trans... especially in this country. It's hard enough to go through without becoming the QOP's favorite new punching bag. And just when I think things will improve and change for the better... we now have the "leadership" of red states going out of their way to make it worse.
Thank you Governor Cox. Shame on what your party has devolved into.
