Scoop: New clue on Trump gap

... snip

Sources with direct knowledge of the situation told Axios Michael began taking fewer and fewer records of the president's off-schedule meetings and calls.

*Staff began questioning the value of doing this type of record-keeping at all.

*Two former officials said Outer Oval staff were poorly served by their superiors and never properly briefed on crucial obligations of their jobs.

*At least once, during the first year of Trump's presidency, the White House Counsel's Office issued a stern warning about their obligation to preserve a wide and detailed account of the president's movements, actions and communications, according to a source with direct knowledge.

The bottom line: One of the biggest challenges to the legal requirements was the President’s habitual use of his own or aides' cell phones to place and receive calls.

Thus far, such calls on Jan 6 have remained outside public record keeping.

Editing to add this in:

"For instance, one source with direct knowledge of his practices said Trump would not call Steve Bannon when he was in the Oval Office."

I have no doubt they used third-party phones as well.

one of the calls from Trump to Mike Lee, meant for Tommy Tuberville went through the White House switchboard, there should have been a record of that call but there wasn't. So it appears at least that call was erased.

In fact, what's a "phone"?

"At least once, during the first year of Trump's presidency, the White House Counsel's Office issued a stern warning about their obligation to preserve a wide and detailed account of the president's movements, actions and communications, according to a source with direct knowledge."

The warning concluded with the unexplained phrase, "wink, wink." /s

5. It's very simple: subpoena the cellphones of every person who entered the Oval Office on 1/6/21

That includes Ivanka and Melania, and any other Chump family members. Mark Meadows, Peter Navarro, etc. - ALL OF THEM! Assume that Chump used their phones unless we find out otherwise.

Why would this be? Kind of sticks out, doesn't it?

Bannon, who is far smarter than Trump, knew that Oval Office phone calls would be logged. He didn't want anyone to know he and Trump were in communication. Thus the subterfuge.

Of course, Trump is incompetent. His ham-handed attests to hide his efforts will ultimately be exposed. Moreover, his behavior shows intent. Why else would the President of the United States hide his actions?

Perhaps because it's the law?

I'm sure many parts of it have something behind them.

But as an out to the law, I have doubts:

https://www.archives.gov/presidential-libraries/laws/1978-act.html

Establishes preservation requirements for official business conducted using non-official electronic messaging accounts: any individual creating Presidential records must not use non-official electronic messaging accounts unless that individual copies an official account as the message is created or forwards a complete copy of the record to an official messaging account. (A similar provision in the Federal Records Act applies to federal agencies.)

It turns poor record keeping into something less nefarious than an effort to obstruct justice and knowledge that criminal activity is happening.

It sounds like a story promoted by one of the members of the regime to exculpate him- or herself from criminality

The old mafiosos would drive a half hour to a pay phone to make their "sensitive" calls.

Trump never left a paper or email trail, and now it looks like he never wanted to leave a telephone trail either. He'd make calls on everyone else's phones.

And some Americans actually want this mobster back in the White House again?

encrypted server where they were supposedly stashing stuff... like the real Mueller report? That's where they stashed most memos, etc, they wanted no one to know about.

I honestly remember something being written about this server, but haven't heard anything about it since then... anyone else remember and/or here anything recently?
