Interesting thread about Russia's tactics to subvert Western democracies

He includes an old video interviewing a KGB defector, lecturing on Russia’s “Societal Subversion Programs,” which are planned out for a generation.

Excerpts:

Know this: Even if the Kremlin didn't create Qanon, they *definitely* amplified & weaponized it against Americans in order to try to tear our societal fabric apart. If you know how the Kremlin propaganda works, then this is obvious. They'd never miss such an opportunity.

Information warfare & societal subversion is naturally the biggest weapon that authoritarian regimes have against democracies. So far the democratic systems have failed to adapt to develop some immunity against it.

Minimum lifespan of a subversion program is at least one generation - so they can infect the minds of a significant portion of an entire generation from childhood into mature adulthood. Attacks are coordinated through all penetrable avenues - text books, pop culture, anything.

One great exception to this was of course the United States (and I'm sure many countries in the West) during the Cold War. Everyone was aware. Every new elected leader was aware.
The US & many in the West let out a big sign of relief when the USSR collapsed. And forgot about it.

Keep in mind the timeline - Putin took power in 1999. His societal subversion program against the US population would've started around 2000. Results are expected after one generation (around 20 years) - the Kremlin really outdid themselves & got lucky - results came early -2016

But an even more insidious, and much longer "con" is the unrelenting indoctrination into equating "capitalism" with "democracy". But they are not the same.

Remember citizens, democracy stops at the door of your employer!

observation. It will be interesting to watch the funding levels of the GQP think tanks/groups also to see if there is a decrease. Many of those "donations" by wealthy Cons in this country have long been suspected of being "reimbursed" to them by way of foreign money. Those reimbursements may dry up somewhat now and so the Cons would really have to be using their own money. Some may but I bet some will not.
