Louis dejoy article in Bloomberg. Thoughts?

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/features/2022-03-31/post-office-head-louis-dejoy-is-staying-put

All in all a good read. I think the point it makes toward the end of the article can not be ignored, that he got the postal reform act passed that got rid of that prefunding retirement requirement, and used his political ability to get republican senators on board

1. Can't count the posts I've had bashed, even hidden, for supporting things DeJoy did.

Don’t like the pompous ass, but he’s made changes that will ensure USPS will survive and improve for the future.

I can't forget him trashing so many sorting machines during an election year, among other things. I am glad he has helped the USPS to survive, but I still don't trust the man.

caught up in some conspiracy theory that since the head of the Postal Service was a GOPer, he's scuttle the election. Didn't happen, fortunately.

If you remember, he was bashed for removing some Blue postal boxes. Turns out, those boxes had been removed by the thousands since the 1980s.

Then, there were the memes where some postal boxes had locks put on them to suppress vote. Turned out it was done in some localites to thwart thieves from stealing mail.

USA Today:

Our rating: False

"We rate the claim that the Postal Service is using collection box locks to suppress mail-in voters as FALSE, based on our research. The Postal Service has a long-documented history of temporarily using such locks to address security threats. Postmaster General Louis DeJoy has testified before Congress that election mail will be delivered safely and on time."

Misinformation is a big threat to our society, and it's not just GOPers doing it. Although, if I'm going to be the subject of misinformation, I guess I'd prefer it from the left.

Our mail service is really iffy. Whole neighborhoods get missed for days. USPS is really short staffed so we kind of get our mail in bundles every third day.

The big issue for people I know is the incredible cost of mailing packages. It can cost more than the product. People who sell on EBAY or ETSY or whatever are getting wiped out.

4. packages are expensive

I don't think that problem can be attributed to Dejoy and in fact he made it worse by jacking up prices more. It's always been like that for as long as i can remember selling stuff online. UPS and Fedex are usually even more expensive than USPS.

DeJoy was installed by Trump to destroy the Post Office and prevent mail-in voting.

He has been sabotaging the Post Office ever since.

He needs to be prosecuted, not praised.

The use case of postal vehicles fit EV's and Hybrids perfectly. my big 3 row Hybrid suv can glide along the subdivision at less than 5 miles per hour. why can't a friggin postal truck do that?

I posted the original article because I thought it was a good read and provided some insight at least into his reasoning although it is admittedly a puff piece and brushes over his conflicts of interest. One of the biggest things that screwed over the USPS was that pre-funding requirement and 'm glad it's gone now
