'Don't Say Gay' Bill Is Hurting Republicans. Here's Proof
Jeanne Pirro's whining speaks volumes.

At long last, Democrats are on offense when it comes to messaging.

"Don't Say Gay" has quite a ring to it. And it's working.

You can tell it's working because the panel on Gutfeld last night took major pains to attempt wrangling DeSantis's totally unnecessary bigot bill out of the "Don't Say Gay" nomenclature.

Jeanine "is that a wig" Pirro, freshly demoted from her Saturday show, did protest too much, claiming this is a "California imposing their WOKENESS on Florida" problem. Gosh, that sure does make DeSantis a weakling.

"...what is California, the woke people in California, how dare they impose their concepts or their ideas on Florida which overwhelmingly supports this bill that did not for one second does it say 'don’t say gay'.”

It's also bad messaging, and indicative of just how far the Qanon satanic sexual abuse conspiracy theory has taken root on the right. Usually they're better with branding (see CRT), but the left's "Don't Say Gay" framing is winning the information war right now. https://t.co/bYqW91GUuk

Normally a master of messaging, Ron DeSantis was outmaneuvered by the three-word catchphrase ‘Don’t Say Gay’ https://t.co/FjEmIqwIdG pic.twitter.com/1FpPLTLIL5

Read Dean here. His point is spot on, it's up to Dems. Make the election--MESSAGING, if you will--a referendum on GOP (not Trump, the PARTY) extremism, from carrying your rapist's baby to "don't say gay" to their 5-yr-slow-dance w Putin, Ds can 💯 buck history & gain seats https://t.co/cJzwqDUuJy pic.twitter.com/qzEprEedjk

Apr 2022

(CNN Business) - Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Thursday signaled support for stripping Disney of its 55-year-old special status that allows the entertainment company to operate as an independent government around its Orlando-area theme park.

It's the latest fallout in the feud between DeSantis, a Republican widely seen as a potential 2024 presidential contender, and Disney (DIS), Florida's largest private employer, over a measure that bans schools from teaching young children about sexual orientation or gender identity.

After DeSantis signed the bill into law earlier Monday, the Walt Disney Company wrote in a statement that its "goal" was to get the law repealed or defeated in the courts. DeSantis previously said Disney "crossed the line" with that statement. On Thursday, DeSantis went further, suggesting Disney's "special privileges" could be lifted.

https://www.cnn.com/2022/03/31/media/ron-desantis-disney/index.html

Keep it up RegeneRon. Go after Florida's largest and most popular private employer. That'll boost your re-election chances.

..lawyers and execs buffaloed state legislators, provided campaign $ and even bribed their way into a really sweet deal. He was a lead senator then, a lawyer himself, who vigorously fought the self-governing of the site by Disney.
Many are the details of the final agreement but some of the worst were no taxation on the land nor services (loss of $ to the state) no outside police force (easy to hide crimes) no medical data reporting to the county or state (injuries, even deaths). These are all still in force today.

Hey, I'm all behind them for opposing DeSatan (as we call him here in FL) yet if they lose their vaunted status as a self-contained fiefdom, I don't think it will hurt them at all.

Normally I'd find that rather disturbing, but in this case it's good to know that something or someone is working independently of DeSantis. I think he has pissed off the wrong people who have the money, resources, and public support to make his life hell. I'd put my money on Disney in this confrontation!

That's how I've been saying it, & it's true.

Propaganda against a group works by demonizing the group by associating them with a "bad" word or phrase like "the radical left" etc.

We need to reframe it as "No, they're not waging war on the radical left, they're waging war on their fellow Americans."

It’s been well established now they can get away with lies so that’s become their main strategy, is to lie, and project what they do on us, along with pushing all their wedge issues like always. They don’t even show up for debates anymore. And, stirring the pot with hate like this with their hateful base. That same base of brain dead magats is always there for them, showing up in every poll with 38% approval of their bucket of shit. We’ve got to get out our voters to win.

If we want to win elections, that is.

To a huge number of Americans it doesn't matter what you actually are & what you actually do, what matters most to them is what they BELIEVE you are & what they BELIEVE you do, & the messaging they hear is what shapes & creates those beliefs.

Helpful deeds combined with good messaging is best, but the Right often defeats us with a combination of harmful deeds & good messaging, & there's no good excuse for it. We should be better at it, I know we're capable, we just need more folks to understand the reality of our modern time & act accordingly.

Rethugs have introduced anti-abortion bills that would give rapist fathers visitation rights, correct?

So they support "Rapist Rights"

That's exactly the kind of messaging attacks they launch against Dems & we need to fire back.

If Dems develop a half-dozen or so short damaging catchphrases like that & repeat them over & over, hammer Rethugs with them the same way they hammer us, it will make a difference.

whereas in the rest of the state, or a lot of parts of it, I don't know. I think the only saving grace for FL is its warm temperatures and flocks of tourists who help to fund the state's budget. However, I think that if desatan is being seen as attacking Disney, I don't think this will go over very well. Disney has a good reputation compared to a lot of businesses in FL and they do bring in loads of cash-bearing tourists that rent hotels, eat at their restaurants, spend money on just about everything else, etc. Sure, go ahead and shoot yourselves in the foot, desatan and his gop scumbags, live up to your name and reputation.
