and other than a tender arm, no ill effects. Honestly, as public policy, it is bad that I have my 4th shot and fewer than 60% of my county has its 2nd. But at this point it is everyone for themselves. I tried waiting for vaccine rates to climb but they show no signs of doing so. I got my 3rd in October (vac rate less than 50%) and my 4th last evening. My doses probably would have been more effective given as 1st or 2nd shots but since that isn't an option due to us not requiring them I will be doing what I can.

(115,777 posts)It really is going to be everyone for themselves from now on, I'm afraid. My county has a 68.7% fully-vaxxed rate but it's still not enough. And funding is running out.
Don't throw away your masks, either. I think we will need them for awhile.

(19,081 posts)But the big problem is that only 29.0% have gotten the booster. Being boosted means the chances of getting hospitalized or dying from Covid are exceedingly tiny. almost 100 times less chance of dying for boosted people than unvaccinated people.

(19,081 posts)Yeah, that's unfortunate.
But know that the protection you have from it means you're very unlikely to get seriously ill from Covid. The pandemic is now only dangerous to the unvaccinated idiots almost entirely.
The number of boosted people dying from Covid right now is a fraction of the number of people that die during an average flu season. If the entire country was boosted, we'd be seeing like 25 deaths a day.

(146,320 posts)It always has been, of course, but going forward, we're going to have to take care of things ourselves.
COVID-19 is still here, but it doesn't seem like so much of an emergency to most people as it once did. That could change, of course, but probably won't. So, we each need to pay attention to what protection is available and protect ourselves.
I got my fourth Moderna shot yesterday. Like you, I just have a bit of a sore arm. But, in a couple of weeks, my protection will be high again. Masks are gone from most people's faces, so we have to protect ourselves. I started wearing a mask in public over two years ago. I still am. Mandate or no mandate, I look around and see that people are still getting COVID-19, so my mask stays on.
I do what is best for me. We all should.
