YOU GUYS!

The House just passed H R 3617

You know, the one that decriminalizes marijuana

ADD: This is NOT a dumb April Fool joke. It's real.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2022/04/01/house-passes-bill-decriminalizing-marijuana-senate-fortunes-unclear/

The House on Friday passed legislation that would remove marijuana from the federal schedule of controlled substances, a move that comes as an increasing number of states have passed decriminalization laws.

The measure, H.R. 3617, is known as the Marijuana Opportunity Reinvestment and Expungement Act, or the MORE Act. The House passed similar legislation in December 2020, but it was not brought up for a vote in the Senate, which was controlled by Republicans at the time.

Friday’s 220-to-204 vote largely took place along partisan lines, with only three Republicans joining most Democrats to back the legislation. Two Democrats voted “no.”

It remains unclear whether the latest measure will receive a vote in the Senate. The White House has not yet issued a statement on whether President Biden supports the legislation. A group of Senate Democrats including Majority Leader Charles E. Schumer (N.Y.) and Sens. Cory Booker (N.J.) and Ron Wyden (Ore.) is expected to release draft marijuana legislation later this month...

During her term, Sinema has voted in favor of various proposals to protect state adult use and medical marijuana programs, including a 2015 amendment to shield state marijuana laws from federal interference as well as one in 2014 and 2015 covering local medical cannabis policies. She also supported a narrower measure focused on state CBD laws, as well as three separate amendments in 2014, 2015 and 2016 that would have allowed doctors from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to recommend medical marijuana.

Additionally, Sinema supported a 2014 amendment to provide access to banking for marijuana businesses, and voted for several industrial hemp amendments on the House floor.

She also signed on as a co-sponsor of the Marijuana Businesses Access to Banking Act of 2015 and the SAFE Act of 2017, which also covers cannabis businesses’ financial services access issues.

19. I do not think it clears the Senate, but if it does and Biden vetoes it, you can really start to

worry about the midterms slamming us.

We are already doing poorly with the 44yo and unders, especially the 30yo and unders (50 point drop in some polls from the early 2021 highs), and IF he did veto it, plus allows full student loan repayments to restart this summer, we are in even deeper shit.

If this weed bill fails in the Senate it lets Biden off the hook, but he still has to decide on student loan repayments.

Imagine all of a sudden, after already having had a decent sized chunk of your income wiped out due to crazy inflation, and the expanded Child Tax Credit now poofed via Manchin, tens of millions will also get smashed with loan payments just a few months before the midterms.

That will work out great for us.

I'd be willing to bet that Mike Lee will as well. Not sure if it will be filibustered though.
