Let's cut to the chase. De Santis' threat against Disney, revoking their special

zoning status is going no where. Why? Because the First Amendment allows them to speak freely without fear of government reprisal.

Which brings up a whole other topic. Why do Republicans keep voting in people who show total ignorance for the law? Don't they realize that Disney has the legal staff to end this with several million dollars of tax payer money as an award?

So much soap opera drama for nothing.

Listen to James O'Brien on LBC. I know that it is British, but it sheds light on how people try to convince themselves about their decisions. There you have people who voted for Boris Johnson, or the Tories and they twist themselves into pretzels trying to talk about how bad "Labour" is because... something something, when O'Brien is point out how Johnson and staffers have broken over 20 laws recently, yet somehow, Labour is so bad (for no identifiable evidence) that they continue to support the criminals.

Same concept here. People continue to support the Republicans even as they break laws and make everyone's lives difficult because ... "Joe Biden is the radical left" Okay, define radical left, what are some radical left policies that President Biden has introduced? "He's a Socialist" Okay, tell me what a socialist believes and what are the policies in place that make President Biden a Socialist? ...

What is happening is that a lot of people have been put off to media by the right wing's constant whining about bias and propaganda, even as they have been the largest purveyors of both.

Justice matters.

Heck, we ALL live in some form of "Socialism" or another.

Paying taxes for infrastructure, for police, for military, for social programs IS "Socialism" and the Scandinavian countries with more "Socialist" programs top the "Best standard of living" charts year in, year out!

Fux Noise and the GQP attack "Socialism" while they benefit from it! (Driving on streets 'n roads to get to work and back, for one basic example...)

FLORIDA 20 Florida 10, Florida St. 4 Miami 2, South Florida 2, Central Florida 2

alll they have to do is get a community to start a discussion about the absurdity of that and those schools using thousands of black athletes to keep 20 kkk stations going and the rest will follow. without those stations getting a free speech free ride desantis and scott and rubio and many of the other GOP shitferbrains don't have a chance.

Are literally cheerleading the laws prohibiting the free speech expressions of the LGBT community on the claims that they're doing this "for the children". But these laws are the exact opposite - they are causing way more harm than good and it's going to take years to undo this damage.

The hypocrisy surrounding these laws is totally insane. I'm pretty sure Fox News is pulling the strings here. Fuck them.

They moved a bunch of jobs from CA to FL because they were pissed that Gov Newsom's COVID rules kept their park closed longer than they wanted. Then in FL, they couldn't be bothered to say anything about the Don't Say Gay bill until it had passed the legislature and Disney's CEO said "oh, but look at all the good we did for the LGBTQI community with Modern Family." So their workers were rightly pissed and pressed the company into saying something, but it was already too late.

The company chose state tax breaks over LGBTQI people and now the horrible Desantis is using them as a punching bag.

In other words, he BARELY won. He doesn't have a "mandate from all Floridians," he squeaked into office with a squeak smaller than a fieldmouse, much less a Mickey or Minnie.

In terms of raw numbers, DeathSentence won the election by 32,463 votes, or 0.4%.

Florida had 131 million visitors in 2019, & about half of them, 58 million, went to Disney World.

So the idiot who won by 32,463 votes is picking a fight with the company that brings about 58 million people to his state every year.

Please proceed.

41. By design, it's a feature of fascism, not a bug.
Fri Apr 1, 2022, 09:27 PM
Apr 2022

Excerpts from: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fascism .....

"fascist aesthetics ... flow from (and justify) a preoccupation with situations of control, submissive behavior, extravagant effort, and the endurance of pain; they endorse two seemingly opposite states, egomania and servitude. The relations of domination and enslavement take the form of a characteristic pageantry: the massing of groups of people; the turning of people into things; the multiplication or replication of things; and the grouping of people/things around an all-powerful, hypnotic leader-figure or force. The fascist dramaturgy centers on the orgiastic transactions between mighty forces and their puppets, uniformly garbed and shown in ever swelling numbers. Its choreography alternates between ceaseless motion and a congealed, static, 'virile' posing. Fascist art glorifies surrender, it exalts mindlessness, it glamorizes death." Sontag also enumerates some commonalities between fascist art and the official art of communist countries, such as the obeisance of the masses to the hero, and a preference for the monumental and the "grandiose and rigid" choreography of mass bodies. But whereas official communist art "aims to expound and reinforce a utopian morality", the art of fascist countries such as Nazi Germany "displays a utopian aesthetics – that of physical perfection", in a way that is "both prurient and idealizing".

.......fascist aesthetics "is based on the containment of vital forces; movements are confined, held tight, held in." Its appeal is not necessarily limited to those who share the fascist political ideology because fascism "stands for an ideal or rather ideals that are persistent today under the other banners: the ideal of life as art, the cult of beauty, the fetishism of courage, the dissolution of alienation in ecstatic feelings of community; the repudiation of the intellect; the family of man (under the parenthood of leaders)."
(emphasis is mine)

Republicans, during my 74 years, have transitioned from just a bunch of smart-ass rich guys that hate taxes and regulation to a core of fascists that are in the process of permanently dividing, de-educating and amoralizing America.
