Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsHas anyone here received their second booster shot?
Were there any issues from the provider/pharmacy such as confusion about who is allowed to get it?
Did you have any reaction that was different from any of your other covid shots?
thx

(9,984 posts)But I got an e-mail from my doctor's office telling me they have it. I have an appointment sometime this month so I'll ask about it and since I'm in the recommended age group (50+) I guess I'll go ahead and get it. Being a former healthcare worker I generally take these things pretty seriously.

(102,304 posts)As with all the previous, very very mild discomfort at the site disappeared after a few hours. Nothing else, even though I refrained from my usual NSAIDs for a demolished ankle 3 days prior and 3 days following the doses to maximize the immune response. I know many have more reactivity following receiving a dose/booster. I just don't.

(16,437 posts)No confusion. Moderna on top of the J&J.
Slightly sore throat (since gone). Its only been 24 hours though.

No troubles but I qualify in multiple ways.

(52,267 posts)I think the Moderna shot typically hits people harder than the Pfizer shot. My first booster was Pfizer and it was pretty mild.
My first two shots were Moderna, with the first considerably more taxing than the second. I'd put this booster shot in between those first two shots in terms of side effects.

(65,085 posts)All Moderna here, too!
My side effects were by order of shot: mild for a couple hours, substantial for around 14 hours, barely anything.
My second was like your first, and vice versa.

(101,322 posts)This is in the UK; they had 2 Astra Zeneca , then a Pfizer booster, and, a week ago, a Moderna booster. No reaction to the first three, but they got a small fever and aches from the Moderna.

(4,098 posts)All doses have been Pfizer. My arm was quite sore for about 25 hours, but otherwise no problem. I walked in at the local vaccination site, no questions asked.

(6,365 posts)My first three (provided by Kaiser) were Moderna, which I had no issue with. I opted for Pfizer this time at my local Safeway. Don't even have a sore spot on my arm.
I filled out an online form before going. The only question at the store was did I want Moderna or Pfizer.

(17,302 posts)I got mine yesterday. I was able to get my husbands and sisters scheduled for Tuesday. When I tried making my appointment the appointment app kept telling me it was too soon. Husband/sister are older so they got their first booster about a month before I qualified. Prior to Tuesday the guidance was you had to wait 5 months, it had been 4 for me and 5 for them. I figured the pharmacy would update their apps in a day or two and they did, so I retried registering and got an appt for yesterday.
Same, very same, side effects for me and husband. He has had zero effects after 4 shots. I have had had painful arm, chills and fatigue. I expect I will start feeling better tomorrow. Small price to pay for additional protection ❤️

(5,164 posts)I am discussing it with my hematologist before getting shot 4. I had a worse reaction to shot 3 so I am worried about 4. All pfizer so far.

(33 posts)I made my appointment on line, filled the questionnaire online, and went to the pharmacy and they were ready for me. No side effects and very little arm pain on this one. Now Bill Gates can continue to track me (he must be getting bored by now).

(5,270 posts)I had sore arm, slight fever and fatigue just for one day but nothing problematic. No one else had any reaction besides slight sore arm.
Spouse and I got ours a couple weeks ago as immunocompromised while our friends got theirs yesterday under new guidelines. All at CVS. One friend was Moderna while the rest of us got Pfizer.

(107 posts)I got mine Wednesday morning, I booked it Tuesday afternoon at a local pharmacy right after I read about it on a thread here. There is some confusion as to whether its available for anyone over 50 with co-morbidities or only immunocompromised people. I was honest and only got a raised eyebrow. I do work in a medical setting with direct and indirect contact with elderly and vulnerable patients. My reaction was slightly sore arm and fatigue the next day. Id say overall it was a milder reaction than my other shots, maybe because I knew what to expect, Im not sure.
Today. No issues.

(7,813 posts)No appointment, walked right in. The first 3 were Pfizer, got Moderna this time.
Reaction? Wednesday I was fine.
Woke up around 4am Thursday morning, achy, sore, and nauseated. Went back to sleep for a couple more hours. Everything except the nausea continued through most of Thursday morning. I felt like death rolled over rocks.
I'm happy to hear that most everyone here had very little reaction, but hubby & I were wrapped in blankets on the sofa switching between boring YouTube videos all day. Mom-in-law got the same shot and had no reaction.

(13,559 posts)Filled out info online on CVS site. Made appointment. Walked right in, pharmacist saw me and greeted me by name. Took about 5 minutes. Didn't even feel the shot.
Other than a little bit of soreness where the needle went in that is now gone, no side effects so far.

(16,437 posts)This one was Moderna (the other three were Pfizer). The other times my only reaction was moderate arm soreness. This time, nothing so far, but it's early yet.

(17,448 posts)the county health department.
Less than 24 hours after FDA approval was announced.
There was a lot of confusion, even after I registered online the night before.
The woman who gave me the shot had to make a phone call to see if I was eligible, presumably to the health department.
All four vaccines kicked my ass, hard. This latest one had an additional symptom of nausea. and the symptoms seem to be lasting longer. Got the shot Weds at 430pm, still not feeling 100% yet early Sunday morning. No big deal though, I was expecting it.
