"[W]e are in the hands of the occupiers today," said Mariupol Mayor Vadym Boichenko in a televised interview on Monday.

The center of the city may still be controlled by Ukraine, but the outlook for Mariupol is still pretty bleak. 60% of the buildings have taken direct hits.

The Kyiv area is a lot more promising, but I don't think that Putin is giving up on taking it.

east. There is a formula for holding ground: so many yards per soldier. The Russian army was smaller than we realized.
