Whatever may be said, or leaked, or rumored about who did what for whom in the runup to Jan.6. it's beginning to look like the entire Whitehouse crew including TFG colluded in hiding the evidence.
Hiding the evidence leads to an Obstruction of Justice charge which is not nearly as complicated to prove as conspiracy to overthrow the US Government.
I wonder if the State of New York would lease the feds a wing at Dannemora just to keep all the felons on ice?

In other cases, you are correct. Many people get a far bigger conviction penalty for obstruction than they would have gotten for the underlying crime.

(7,919 posts)shut. It pins those participants to a crime they had to know about whatever their degree of participation. Once they are convicted you can pursue all of the other trails the evidence leads to. It also places them in a position where talking about the other players suddenly makes a lot of sense.
