(4,221 posts)Always a small town mainstream one, not a looney one on the fringe. All three were welcoming and emphasized helping the community. With all that time investment between the three congregations I have never heard a minister involved politics like this guy. I lost track of how many commandments he broke there. Unbelievable.

(4,221 posts)but I would not call them true Christians even though they go to some kind of church. But youre correct they call themselves that and they voted for the bastard. Some honestly think hes a man of faith.
Mariana
(14,860 posts)I'm certainly not in any position to determine the veracity of their faith, so I take them at their word.

(14,860 posts)It's so complicated that there are hundreds of denominations of Christianity in the US alone, plus countless "nondenominational" and "independent" churches, and who knows how many individual practitioners following their own unique ideas of Christ's teachings. It's not for me to sort out who's doing Christianity right and who's doing it wrong.

(68,675 posts)are not Christians... voted for Trump. You can't vote for Trump and follow the teachings of Christ. Everyone has the right to their opinions concerning religion. Mine is different than yours which is fine with me. However, I would appreciate it if you wouldn't attack me or anyone else on matters of religion.
Mariana
(14,860 posts)You have declared that people who vote differently than you aren't Christians. Seems like you are attacking people on matters of religion in this thread, not me.
Demsrule86
(68,675 posts)can not be considered Christian. And the idea that a certain percentage of Christians voted for Trump is tarring all Christians with the same brush. I have seen the same sort of thing done with white women...and my response was well more than a few voted for our side. But I must say I tire of these sort of threads. And it feels like an attack despite what you say here. In any case, I will simply trash such threads in the future.
Demsrule86
(68,675 posts)Think about that...and consider if we reach out and cut those numbers down just a bit in the midterms, we could win. We might not win every district but lowering the GOP numbers will help us win statewide elections...what won't help is attacking all Christians or anyone else.
And you should stop...it is divisive and won't encourage people to vote for us. I would add that here in Cleveland big part of GOTV are Black church ladies and their husbands and/or boyfriends. They would be enraged by your post. They are true allies and without them, we will lose multiple elections.

(36,343 posts)And to a greater extent, white men. A majority of Christian Blacks voted for Biden
The majority of men voted for Trump.
The majority of white people voted for Trump.
The majority of old people voted for Trump.
The majority of Southerners voted for Trump.
The majority of rural residents voted for Trump.
The majority of Christians voted for Trump.
And?
Kaleva
(36,343 posts)Just 25% of the vote he got in Mi came from counties classified as rural or mostly rural.
Christianity itself doesn't seem to be a key factor as it's quite clear that the great majority of Black Christians voted for Biden in 2020 and for Hillary in 2016.

(14,860 posts)He got 58% of Protestants, 52% of Catholics, and 61% of Mormons (if you consider them to be Christian) in 2016.
"The majority" literally means not everyone.
